Cafe Closing Soon!
We're almost ready to move back to Zootopia-related work! The workload has been exhausting, but the improvement was worth it because it forced me to work faster and find shortcuts while preserving the quality. Above are some of the recent / finished ones (Colonel's isn't finished yet bc it's a heccin' CHONKER - I had to post a screenshot bc the actual is too big for Patreon XD). Commissioners, thank you for being so patient with me!
Please do NOT share the prices listed in the previous form though. They were limited and too low for the time + workload and are not sustainable for me in the future. Prices will increase moving forward following the release of my 2021 Commish Cafe menu next month. See end of post for seasonal/ holiday commission update.
"Yeah yeah commissions, but what's next after this?"
That Eternal Flame animatic, baby!
September | Eternal Flame Animatic
Once the Cafe closes up, I'm gonna take a break for a few days, rest me hands, and study layout/storyboarding so we can hit the ground running with that Eternal Flame animatic I started featuring the velvety pipes of Jason Bateman. I've used the massive commission workload to help improve my skills just enough to hopefully produce a better quality animatic. 'Twas my evil plan aaaaaaall along!
(No seriously, it was.)
I'll make a post next month with how I'll be steering this ship into 2021, but the main point is I want to focus primarily on creating animated Zootopia projects, along with a side comic. It takes longer, and is more work, but that's what I REALLY wanted to do since the beginning. I'd share progress with you guys via screenshots and streams.
Other projects I'll be working on after this ends?
- Various animation blocking tests, with Zootopia-related audio clippets from both Ginnifer and Bateman outside of the movie
- Untitled webisode
- Feral comic
Ambiguous yes, but lemme finish up in the kitchen before we hop in the car and I show you the map!
September | Taking Preorders for Seasonal Commishes
If you're hankering for a fall / Christmas / New Years commish, I'll be taking preorders soon! NOBODY will be invoiced until approved and I'm ready to work (much later this year), but if you want to try and guarantee a seasonal order consider joining my list once I post it! Over the years I've gotten too many requests right in the middle of the holiday rush, so this is to alleviate that problem.
Please don't DM me now, as I'll post the form once it's ready.
October | Zinktober Art Challenge
Let's immediately contradict the previous topic - remember last year's Zinktober sketches for the yearly Inktober art challenge? I wanna try that again! Not for all 31 days, just one per week. I'll open a poll so everyone can help choose which prompts I should do this year.
December | Short Christmas Animatic
I really wanna do a short, cute Christmas music video animatic if I can manage it! Dunno to what yet, but we'll see what the Eternal Flame workload ends up being....
OH...maybe we could spin EF into a cutesy Christmas animatic? Same concept, but with Christmas decorations, outfits, etc? I literally just came up with that idea while typing...we're gonna have to talk about that XD.

That's all for now! We'll be going full-speed a week after the Cafe closes, so get your helmet ready!

These ideas are all lovely. A once a week drawing for Zinktober seems like a fair balance. I’ll be honest, I’ve always wondered How you managed to draw at least one piece per day. It sounds hectic, but you still somehow manage to do it. Also, the animatic has been a long time coming. I look forward to it. And about your prices, I’ll be honest, while I do like the your commission prices, I also think they’re not as high compared to your peers and that I feel that you may be underselling yourself. Lately, I’ve been comparing your commission with Samur and S1m. They post their prices at commission.io and I have to say, I didn’t know they charge that much. At the same, it could be the fair price and that yours was really low all along. It’s all relative and I sure feel like your work is comparable to them. So I understand if you have to raise prices though I hope the new prices will still be reasonable yet still be competitive enough for you.

This is all so exciting, Qal!! Amazing stuff and I'm very much looking forward to it all! For the Christmas animatic, I remember you mentioned once how much you loved Amy Grant's "Grown-Up Christmas List." I think that would be a wonderful song to set the animatic to! I can't wait to see what you come up with!!! <3

This is all so exciting!!! I'm glad the commissions had their intended purpose, you've been producing excellent work at a furious pace 💖 These upcoming projects all sound absolutely amazing and I'm happy to be onboard this hype train for all of them!
