[DEVBLOG#290] Our plans for Spacer furniture

I'm here to tell you a little bit about our plans for Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Spacer, which I just finished designing. It's now entering the development stage where Sokyran is working on bringing it all into the game.
I was always a big fan of the Spacer furniture mod, and from what I gather seeing all the screenshots on reddit, a lot of people use it and enjoy it. Just like before, my primary goal is to smooth it out a little bit, add some more exciting stuff to it, and to ensure the update is absolutely safe for anyone who has this mod in their save games.
There's only one thing being removed so I will get it out of the way now: Spacer lamp. Not many of you used it, but those that did know it's incredibly OP. It's a lamp with a built-in heater/cooler. I find it a little bit too OP, and as such it will no longer be buildable come the update.
As for the existing stuff, it all got redesigned and remade. Nothing is as it was, everything has new stats, and also the art got updated too!

Description: A sleek bedside table with an integrated soft-glow lamp. Must be placed directly adjacent to the head of the bed. Placing more than one end table near the same bed has no effect.
The illuminated end table not only provides comfort, but also improves rest effectiveness of nearby beds. It also generates light!

Description: A sleek, modern dresser with an integrated soft-glow lamp. Gives a small comfort bonus to all nearby beds. Placing more than one dresser near the same bed has no effect.
Similar to the illuminated end table, the dresser also provides rest effectiveness bonus to nearby beds.

Description: A sleek spacer table with an embedded smart display. When seated at this table, colonists enjoy passive television-style recreation alongside meals or work. People eat off tables when chairs are placed facing them.
A small, 1x1 table that provides passive Television Watching recreation to anyone eating at it. It also glows blue!

Description: A sleek spacer table with an embedded smart display. When seated at this table, colonists enjoy passive television-style recreation alongside meals or work. People eat off tables when chairs are placed facing them.
A larger version of the above table.
Label: hyperscreen television
Description: A colossal, ultra-definition entertainment wall spanning multiple panels. Designed for luxurious colonies, it delivers an overwhelming visual experience with rich sound and vibrant clarity. Streams archived ultranet broadcasts from long-dead satellites and local data arrays.
A large television that takes up 4x2 space. Massive. It was previously called ultrascreen television but it had to be renamed, as ultrascreen television is being added in Megacorps instead.
Label: outdoor solar lamp
Description: An electrical standing lamp that lights an area, good for large outdoor spaces, with a small solar panel mounted on top. Stores electrical charge during the day, when it’s off, and automatically turns on at night.
A cool lamp that requires no power and automatically turns on at night. Can only work outdoors.
Label: mechanite repair shelf
Description: A high-tech shelf for storing apparel or weapons. Items stored on this shelf will benefit from nanoswarms of mechanites that will slowly repair any damage and deterioration. The process requires a large amount of power and takes a significant amount of time.
Your favourite shelf, mechanite repair shelf now requires healer mech serum to construct. It regenerates 1 HP per hour for the item placed on it. Only accepts apparel and weapons.
Now, you're probably interested in what's new in the mod.
First of all, base game Megascreen television is now buildable with Spacer electronics research project.

Description: A high-fidelity audio system designed to enhance the viewing experience of nearby televisions. When placed near a television, it links with the screen to deliver immersive sound, increasing the recreation gain of any colonist watching.
Television speakers link to nearby TVs and improve their recreation gain rate by 10%. Maximum of two speakers per TV. Recreation improvement requires that the pawn partaking has hearing above 0%.

Description: A sleek, high-tech flat-screen television. Its slim profile saves floor space while delivering the same rich color and clarity as traditional flat-screen units. It doesn’t have a huge viewing space, but can be mounted on walls.
A 2x1 TV that can be mounted on the wall. Has a smaller viewing area, but doesn't take up space on the floor.

Description: A sleek, spacer-era armchair. Built with memory foam, smart-fabric upholstery, and ergonomic design, it provides superior comfort and aesthetics.
A very comfortable, modern-looking armchair.
Label: modern couch
Description: A sleek, double-wide spacer-era couch. Memory foam, ergonomic design and smart-fabric upholstery provide maximum comfort.
Label: air purifier
Description:A compact, high-efficiency air purifier that filters out dust, allergens, smoke, and other unwanted particulates while circulating clean, scented air. Improves room cleanliness, slightly boosts mood, and enhances the overall environment.
Air purifier removes any unwanted gases from the tile it's on. It also provides a minor mood buff for colonists in the same room as an air purifier. Furthermore, air purifiers add a lot of Cleanliness to the room, which makes them perfect for hospitals and kitchens!
Let me know what you think about the things shown so far. I'm still contemplating a few new additions that may or may not make it in, but overall the amount of content in the mod is doubled. I hope that these pieces of furniture will allow you to feel that your colony is progressing in tech. After all, that was the original intention of the mod!

I’d consider rotating the play button graphic on the interactive tables! It feels off that they’re oriented horizontally for the player’s convenience, whereas for a pawn looking at them from the nearest table-edge they would be arranged on their sides(aka vertically).

Looks good! Might I suggest using "advanced" instead of "modern" in the names of the armchair and couch for consistency with the beds and chair?

Higher comfort and rest effectiveness is a pretty obvious improvement.

I still don't understand how the spacer beds and chair are an improvement over the old ones. The air purifier and wall-mounted TVs are VERY welcome additions. These should be a big help when building hospitals.

Ooooh I love the idea of wall-mounted TV! Finally, they will be on hospital walls and not get in the way of the doctors! Any chance of having some kind of console for colonists to play games together while watching TV? +1 to wardrobe! Also, if we don't have OP modern lamps anymore, could we possibly have a cooler designed lamps that consume less electricity (maybe they are LED powered)?
