that's a good point! I didn't even think of Happy Together, but that would've made way more sense

The clumsy reference to In the Mood for Love especially bugs me. My automatic first thought was, "Why not Happy Together?" Same director, same theme of impossible love, but it's at least gay. I guess it has less name recognition, though, so they probably didn't even consider it.
