EliteMobs 7.3.12 release & the near future
🕑 Added 2022-01-30 01:34:08 +0000 UTCHello everyone,
As you might know, EliteMobs 7.3.12 is now out. The changelog is in the post on the link (the video also shows it off), and you will notice it is a pretty major one.
This means I can now start working on 7.3.13. Based on the last Patreon vote, the focus should be arenas.
However, before that update, a much shorter and much faster update will be releasing rebalancing Dungeons.
A number of people have complained, correctly, that dungeon difficulty doesn't feel balanced. This is because EliteMobs has been trying to use the mob properties of every different entity type, so endermen hit much harder than zombies, ravagers have a ton of health and so on.
That is good for elites, but as it turns out it's a nightmare to balance in dungeons where damage should be consistent between areas.
As such, and as mentioned in the previous blog post in detail, I will be normalizing the health and damage of all dungeon bosses.
This means that damage and health will become 100% predictable across all dungeons. However, since this completely rebalances the difficulty, I will be updating all dungeons to make sure that everything is balanced, and will fix some issues with them along the way.
I expect that this process will take about a week to complete, plus some time to fix 7.3.12 bugs if / when they get reported. I will release all of the rebalanced dungeons and the EliteMobs build that applies this new balance at the same time.
You will be able to retain the current difficulty by changing a configuration option, but all dungeons moving forward will be developed and updated using this normalized difficulty setting, so you probably should update when it comes out.
Finally, this is also a heads up about the Oasis adventure. Currently it is a $1 patreon reward because it used to be the best premium content for beginners. However, with Primis, this is no longer the case. As such, when Chapter 2 releases next month, Primis will become the $1 patreon reward and the Oasis will be put at the $15 tier. And in case you weren't aware, a new chapter of the Oasis will be made, adding quests and completely remaking the inside of the pyramid to use the new and improved EliteMobs mechanics.
The idea is to end up with a situation where Primis is the best place for players to learn how EliteMobs works, and the Oasis will be the place they go to to really get started without the training wheels.
Happy adventuring,
- MagmaGuy
