Lighting & Atmosphere Extension for vonBiomes in the works
🕑 Added 2023-01-19 19:56:32 +0000 UTCVolumetric Fog can be a very atmospheric element in games - it adds mood, depth and visual overall quality. For an upcoming vonBiomes Mod Version, the already implemented custom dynamic lighting system (aka vonSkies;), which greatly improves the variety of missions based on planet orbit data, will be extended with volumetric fog options and more lighting improvements.
It is a tricky beast - I do not want it to be *just* another overdone fog effect but a dynamic system, that included parameters like planet position in the solar system, sun class, size and color, etc. It probably becomes a larger project on the side, but also an important one our Mechwarrior missions.
Results vary still somewhat, with procedural parameters making it difficult to test and fine-tune. The process of getting there can be tedious, but *if* it works also well in-game, totally worth it:)
Sidenote: the new DLC 4 is upcoming.
As soon as it is released, I will test mod compatibilities and fix stuff as quickly as possible.
Thank you and cheers!
