Breakthrough! vonHUD & a working vonCommander Interface to order your Mechs around with mouse clicks!
🕑 Added 2023-02-09 03:46:22 +0000 UTCDear Patreons - we got it! The new "vonCommander" interface, included in the vonHUD Mod is now in a first working state. With the PageUp Key, you can switch anytime to the Satellite View, and with just some mouse clicks, you can issue orders to your AI lancements. The key is re-bindable via the regular keybinds settings panel of Mechwarrior 5.
With a 1st click you can select your lancemate and issue a order for:
> 2nd click any location: Move to location
> 2nd click on enemy target: Attack order
You also do not have to hit the tiny Mech exactly anymore, a click on the circle is enough. When clicking a lancemate, a selection circle is displayed.
Do recall your lancemates if they are finished and have no new targets to engage, or do some hang & chill, just click the button on the top left to initiate a fallback into formation.
With this integrated options of the "vonCommander" interface you can already attack bases from two sides, set ambushes, and apply commander tactics to your missions. With the mouse wheel you can zoom in and out.
The new interface extends the game by a whole new level, I hope you like it as much as I do;)

Absolutly, I will increase the zoom cap as soon as I get through with the currentvonBiomes Update (or in between if that takes longer:) - I had the same issue when e.g. attacking larger bases - it needs a little more field of view from above to effectivly command the lancemates around.

This is something I always wanted in MW5 and it has been so frustrating noto see it...until now. This is a fantasitc mod, and despite the 'in development' caveat, it is an awesome realization of what a command interface could an should be. Great work. I wholeheartedly agree with Vookie. If we could get to zoom out a bit more (more than 1000 meters I hope) that would be great. The current limitations of giving pilots (in the vanilla command interface) 'go here' orders that is only within 1000 meters, or worse yet, beyond your line of sight (due to obstructions) is very frustrating, and this mod already allieviates the latter problem very nicely indeed!

How do we get a longer range version of this? Sometimes you want to protect multiple sides of a base, but you can't direct them past a certain point. Can we move the camera position?
