I’m just glad the podcast is still available to listen to, because it reconnected me with something I’d lost when I had to grow up too fast. My great-grandmother used to say they “put hard soles on your feet so you forget where we walk,” meaning you can lose touch with where you come from and how you connect to everything. Your deep love, wonder and respect of nature you both brought to every episode reminded me of those roots and gave me hope again. Even when you apologized for “bummer episodes,” those made such a positive change in my life. I started visiting a local AZA-accredited zoo attached to the community college, found the confidence to talk to staff, enrolled in a local amphibian cert class, met people in a maker space from them making insect and bat boxes and met people who care about our home as much as I do. Your sanctuary and your work opened doors I’d written off years ago when I was struggling to afford community college and living out of my car. I hope others in similar situations find the same hope, direction, and sense of belonging I've found through what you do. Yall really reminded me where I walk. Thank you :)

Maya, As someone who didn't follow their gut and ended up in the wrong field for the last eight years instead of in conservation, seeing what you have done with your platform has been inspiring. Last weekend, I took my first of what will hopefully be many workshops with World Bay Sanctuary. I cannot go back in time and tell college-me to follow her heart, but you have inspired me to do things *today* that will benefit the natural world. I hope to start volunteering with my local Project Wildlife rehabilitation site after getting my pre-exposure rabies vaccine, and to specifically work with the fuzzy little pest-controllers and pollinators that are bats. Thank you again for all that you have done with Alveus and will do with ARRI. And for reminding us all that we are part of the solution <3
