As I mentioned before, Gabi is a sweet and kind child, so being born - and turning into a werewolf - isn't something she's happy about. The older she grew, the more she tried to resist it and hide it. But with Raha being older and a supportive mother, she tried to help Gabi overcome it, maybe even give her hope that they were more than just monsters and could shape their own fate.
That worked for a while… but in the end, we know the world can be cruel. Sometimes you can do everything right and still fail. And yet, while Gabi was with Raha, she managed to preserve some of her humanity and not succumb completely to rage.
Also note: Raha is quite young here, so she looks a little different (less muscular, less scars, things like that). And keep in mind that she was born a very long time ago, an equivalent of BC times (there's no religion like that in Heather's world where these two live, but it's an analogy to help you understand.) Both Raha and Gabi are vaguely inspired by ancient peoples, hence the cave paintings, though not modeled after any specific group, but more like a blend of Cro-Magnons and medieval folk.
...Raha's never-ending life is a curse.

Ths storytelling in this is phenomenal omfg. How sweet, seriously. I'm assuming the little one drew the images yeah? I love that detail if so, it's only natural to have the anxiety of being hunted but soon follows acceptance when she realizes she's not alone. Raha probably knows more than anyone how that feels.
