In my country (we use a preferential voting system, not voting for candidates) if the popular group's representative is not voted for, or has enough votes saying that this representative doesn't suit the voters will, then their representatives aren't allowed to run again and they must restack the list of people you can vote for. Needless to say it's a little-known clause and thus hasn't ever happened (I think) I don't know if such a thing exists for the U.S cause it's a different voting system.

There's already an absurdly unnecessarily long conversation happening in the comment section of this post, but I will go ahead and ask if I'm the only one who's curious to see what would happen if no one voted for anyone to take that seat. I personally am a believer that if I am given the choice between one evil and another, whether lesser or not, I would rather not choose at all, so let's say no one took that choice and everybody in this country decided not this time. Would the government decide who is granted the position ultimately forcing the rest of us to abide by a choice we didn't make?
