Wanted to share some sneak peek WIP pics of the Space Cadet film. Above is a reference of a page of the spaceship interior. You can see the control console, and layout of the ship. This is a page from my original graphic novel. The team are working on some "Look Development" for the film and focusing on the lighting of the different sets.
Here is another page from the book where you see plant jars and another part of the ship. For this scene, I wanted it to look/feel a bit stark and lonely on the ship...
Below is one of the tests from Felipe Ferreira (one of our amazing digital lighting designers) This is a literal screenshot (taken with my phone of the monitor) LOL. But you can get a bit of an idea of how it's coming along! These are general lighting tests, like a base coat on a painting. I think it's already looking beautiful and emotive!
The choices to make are at this point is where to put the general lighting sources and light level. Is the light emitting from the ceiling? the window? or a flourescent bar on the wall etc.? At a later point in the process, we can go into each shot and adjust the level and brightness of the light, perhaps add a spot light if the action requires it, color shifts, vignettes etc. All those choices will help to bring additional depth, focus and drama to the shot.
Here's Celeste at the control console, we are checking how bright the buttons are when they are lit and how that can be used as a light source also!
Anyhow... We are all really happy with how things are coming along with the film!
More updates, soon!
Enjoy! And thank you for your continued support!
