What is dirtier, your phone or your toilet?
🕑 Added 2025-06-16 14:16:12 +0000 UTCFirst results are in! Of the 10 tested things so far the terrarium is "dirtiest". It has a lot of bacterial colonies on the plate. They are not necessarily bad bacteria. Surprisingly the plate of the phone had no growth yet and the one of the toilet had only 2 small bacteria colonies. But this is only day 1, need to give it at least 4 days.

Are you sure your girlfriend didn't do a deep clean of the toilet shortly before you took the sample? π

That is weird, but microbes can indeed make a lot of difference in diversity of bigger things.

I did an "experiment, growing microbes from dirt around earthworm bin and dirt inside. Despite being desert dirt, much less diversity with earthworm dirt.
