Greetings Sun Emperor,
It is the duty of this council to celebrate your virtue and fortune with the achievement of the previous objectives, as we spotted in our previous letter. The strength of the Empire of Sun is growing faster under your leadership and this “blackpowder” invention is going to change the fate of the war for ever.
It is a good omen to have found the Wawel Castle's master blacksmith, the new armors and weapons are now in the forge and the elite units from Volhynia are now deployed in our most valuable locations in the north, but we cannot forget the danger that’s awaiting in the northern frontiers. The Devastated Lands of Hardrä are being populated again by the northern barbarian tribes, and our land is in more peril than ever.
We should recruit every man and woman in age of fight from every village in Volhynia. The same place where our ‘beloved’ master blacksmith got lost, the harbour district of Nelsk, is well known for his brave and ruthless warriors, the Cossacks. Even the surrounded areas of the city, populated by little settlements of lumberjacks, can provide us strong soldiers with axes and arquebuses, or as they called theirselves: Streltsy.
It is also the duty of this council to remember the value of The Old Fencing Academy of Soltau, which is still in ruins. Experienced units of swords masters will be a great addition to reinforce our front line of battle against our numerous enemies.
We know that the best decision will be chosen.

Btw wouldn't it be neat to get peasant mob somewhere in the future? They could be used by any human (Empire or Totally NotBretonia, or maybe even rebel) forces

Thank you Tony! We love the idea of a command unit for the entire army, we'll probably apply that with some heroe characters, including a hero bannerman. :)
Excellent model development thus far, I'm really impressed with what you churn out. A few asks from me: Artillery, a central "command" unit (almost an army commander) and I have a particular fondness of banners and such regalia _ might there be scope to model an Army Standard Bearer, larger and more "impressive" than those of the individual units command groups?

Is it definitely greatswords? I swapped my choice based on this since I wasn't as keen on fencing foils.

I have chosen Greatswords because they are cool and Soltau is a nice town in my federal Departement in Lower Saxony/ Germany. Support your local Industry:)

Hi Tom! Of course! For the pistoliers, this August Release we have the Black Riders, which can be used as pistoliers (they'll be based in the classical reiter cavalry unit with pistols) along with the arquebusiers. And for the knights and war priests, in future polls the patrons will be able to choose to build the Impieral Stables and the Cathedral of Sun, to unlock these units. :)
I'm loving the Empire of the Sun stuff, but the Volhynia don't really fit visually with the other core units. I want to try printing out an Empire of Sunstahl army for 9th Age, so these new units are super well timed - any chance of some Pistoliers and Knights in the future, or some Flagellants/War Priests?

personally i'd much rather see some massive Bardische Axes (and arquebuses) than greatswords
Greatswords are great, as the name implies. Make swords great again.

Both options will be based in the historical units from the renaissance (cossacks, streltsy and landsknechts) but created in our own fantasy approach :)
