2026年1月挨拶/January 2026 Greeting

年が明けるなり怒涛の冷え込み。
ちょっとの油断でえらい風邪を引いてしまいそうで恐ろしいです。
皆様も過剰なくらい温かい格好をして、お大事に。
今月はネタが大当たりだったのか、多くの方にご支援いただきとても嬉しく思っております。
なんか自分のネタをしっかり見てもらえるというのは嬉しいことですね。
では今回のお話。
今月はダメかと思った。(二度目)
前回とは全く事情が違うんですけど、間に合わないかとヒヤヒヤしました。
まだ慣れてないゆえの工程のマズった所を、戒めも含め描いていこうと思います。
①ページが多かった
ネームの時点で18P、そして作業中に2P増やして20P。
過去最多。
「ページ数増やしたくないから中身削ろう」はしちゃいけないものですが、それはそれとしてどんどんページが増えていくのはちょっと怖い。
師匠は月に30Pとか平気で描くけど、年季がダンチですからね。私まだぺーぺー。だし。
閑話休題。とにかく、今までで一番純粋な量が多かった。
②登場人物が多かった（そこそこのやらかし）
うん、ヒーロー全員が融合しちゃうって内容ですからね。
一旦ヒーロー全員がコマにいた方がいいのはそれはそうなんですよ。
人間の描き分けちゃんとしたことないのに五人の描き分けをいきなりやるなって。
やらないとできるようにならないのはそりゃそうなんですけど、五人はやっぱ多いって。
……ちゃんと描き分けられていたらいいなぁ。
③新しい描き方の模索中だった
これ自体は仕方ないことではあります。
自分の絵ってどこか絶対納得はできない部分があるので、それを解消するためにも描き方は常に模索していますし。
ただ、よりにもよって一番大きな改革を今回しちゃった。
結果としては作業効率が上がり、なんとか描き上げられたのですが……
逆に時間かかるやり方にしてたらドボンでしたね。おーこわ。
④デザインを最後まで固めなかった（最大のやらかし）
スーツのデザインは最初に決めとけ！！！
ネーム時「なんとかなるやろ」
下書き時「今は思いつかないや」
ペン入れ時「なんか……いい感じで」
仕上げ時「あっこのコマのスーツ、模様違う！！！！」
スーツのデザインは最初に決めとけ！！！（二回目）
できればネーム時点で、設定図みたいなのはこさえとくべきでしたね。
と、言うのは簡単なんですがその場の勢いで変えたくなっちゃうんだよなぁ服装って……
他にもコマ割りが多めだったりもしたのが時間かかった理由なのですが、その辺は反省点でもないので割愛します。
よりにもよって
・ページが多くて
・登場キャラも多くて
・割と面倒なスーツがあるのに（しかもデザインは最後まで決めずに！）
・全く新しい描き方でやった
と言う。
まあ、描けたのでヨシ！ としましょう。何事も締め切りを守るのが一番！
来月以降も、無理しすぎないようにやっていきたいと思います。
多分こういうことが度々起きそうだけど……ｗ

Right as the year started, we got hit with this brutal cold snap.
Just a tiny bit of carelessness and bam—you catch a terrible cold. Scary stuff.
Please everyone, bundle up way more than you think you need. Stay warm and take care of yourselves!
This month my stuff must have really hit the spot, because I received support from so many of you—I'm genuinely thrilled and grateful.
Having people actually read and engage with the things I make… it really makes me happy.
Okay, let's get into this month's story.
I seriously thought I was screwed this time. (Round 2)
The circumstances were completely different from last time, but I was sweating bullets thinking I wouldn't make the deadline.
Because I'm still not used to the workflow, I messed up in several places—I'm writing this partly as a reminder to myself.
① Way too many pages
From the thumbnail/rough stage it was already 18 pages, then I added 2 more during production → 20 pages total.
Personal record.
The rule is "don't cut content just to reduce page count," but still… watching the page count keep climbing is terrifying.
My mentor casually does 30 pages a month like it's nothing, but that's decades of experience talking. I'm still a total newbie.
Anyway. Pure volume-wise, this was easily my heaviest month ever.
② Too many characters (and I kinda screwed up)
Yeah, well… the whole story is about all the heroes fusing together.
Of course I needed to show all of them in the same panels at some point. That's fine.
But I've barely practiced drawing different people consistently, and suddenly I'm trying to distinguish five heroes at once?
I mean, yeah—you only get better by actually doing it. But five is a lot, okay…
…Please tell me they were at least distinguishable…
③ I was experimenting with a completely new drawing method
This part is unavoidable, to be honest.
There's always something about my art that I'm never fully satisfied with, so I'm constantly trying new techniques to fix it.
But—of all times—I decided to do the biggest overhaul yet during this very chapter.
In the end it actually improved my efficiency and I managed to finish…
…but if I'd chosen a more time-consuming method instead, I would've drowned. Terrifying.
④ I never finalized the suit designs until the very end (the biggest blunder)
DECIDE THE SUIT DESIGN FROM THE START!!!
During thumbnailing: "Eh, it'll work out somehow."
During roughs: "Can't think of anything right now."
During inking: "Eh… looks kinda cool?"
During finishing: "Wait—THE PATTERN ON THIS SUIT IS DIFFERENT IN THIS PANEL!!!!"

Ideally I should've made proper model sheets or reference at the thumbnail stage.
Easier said than done, though… I always get the urge to change the outfits on the fly when the mood hits…
There were also quite a few complicated panel layouts that ate time, but those aren't really "mistakes" so I'll skip complaining about them.
So in summary, I chose the absolute worst possible combo:
・highest page count ever
・most characters ever
・super detailed/annoying suits (and I didn't even lock down the design!!)
・brand new untested drawing workflow
…Well, I finished it, so YAY!
The most important thing is hitting the deadline no matter what!
From next month onward I'll try not to push myself too hard.
(Though knowing me, this will probably happen again… lol)
