I like the idea, that the transformation into an inert object cannot be reversed - the irrevocable, ultimate transformation makes the kick for me! There might be one or two "trial" transformations, which are reversible - but the third strike is final! and that the new statues are first aware of their state and then their mind fade into nothingness - I prefer to combine the fading-away with arousal and ecstasy, but this way it's fine, too!

What we've seen is pretty much the extent of what they can do. There might be variations out there though. This amulet shares the same limitation as a regular Medusa or gorgon. They can't reverse the petrification.

Interesting mechanic of the amulet. Can one turn them back on again with it? If so could you also reverse it completely? I always love having the extra options in stories.
