Chapter 16 The Big Guys of the Iceberg Club
🕑 Added 2025-10-12 11:28:26 +0000 UTCAs if to make up for the losses she suffered when she was not with him, Cindy was relentless.
With some difficulty, she finally dressed and jumped out of the window, leaving Connors alone, standing in front of the mirror with a bottle of cold beer in his hand. Though he was a young man in his prime, and his figure was still the same, dark circles had appeared under his eyes. He was obviously overworked.
Hurt by alcohol and sex, I'm so haggard… he thought grimly. From today on, I stop drinking!
Connors made up his mind, jumped into bed, and fell into a dead sleep until three in the morning, when his eyes suddenly snapped open. He quickly dressed, and then he also jumped out of the window.
His body fell from the nineteenth floor without any protection, but strangely, it made no sound. His body floated in the air, not like a physical object, but like a piece of paper.
[Eating Melon Today: The Laughing Man Incident (ongoing) - Scarecrow's life-saving straw] [Melon-eating reward: Little Trick Master]
No matter how tempting Cindy Moon's advances were, Connors had not forgotten to submit the melon-eating task.
The reward is 'Little Trick Master,' he mused. The name is quite low-end, and it sounds no different from lockpicking. But since the suffix was "Master," and after tasting the sweetness of relying solely on his "Master-level" unlocking ability to make Scarecrow's abilities useless, Connors did not underestimate this new skill.
Jumping from a high building without injury was just a basic exercise. In addition, there were more strange and extraordinary methods that would be impossible in the eyes of ordinary people.
"Give me the ability of a hypnosis master next, and I can go and perform magic on the world's top stages…" Connors muttered to himself, pulling on his collar with one hand. The clothes on his body turned black, completely blending into the night.
The guy who had been kicked by Cindy during the day but wasn't dead yet was a member of the Penguin's gang. Before the other man finally passed out, Connors got half the message he wanted.
Including the Penguin bombing the stadium and the Scarecrow's poisoning operation—it was all part of the Joker's plan. What exactly the plan was, this half-dead man didn't know; he was just a little minion, so he could only count it as "half the information."
In addition, there was an unexpected gain. Because the Penguin, as a gang leader, had actually listened to a clown who had been caught, it caused many veteran-level guys in the gang to disagree. They had captured a spy and could have taken the opportunity to ask for a large sum of money from the other organization. But since the Penguin was listening to the clown, they intended to get rid of the Penguin, relying on this spy to cleanse themselves and transform from a gang organization to a syndicate.
They were planning to build Gotham's second Wayne Group.
This minion was one of the people sent to clear the area. The purpose was that the veteran members wanted to completely eliminate the Penguin and his cronies. When this news was obtained by Connors, he understood that there was another unusual melon to be eaten.
He had eaten a lot of superhero and villain melons since coming to this world, but a spy's melon was still the first. As an unstable element, Connors would definitely not miss this big melon of gang infighting and whitewashing.
The Iceberg Lounge. On the surface, it was the Penguin's nightclub, a legitimate business establishment. But at the same time, it was where the Penguin's gang members were stationed. Except for the bottom three floors, which were used for business, the apartments above were all residences for gang members.
At this time, on the third floor of the Iceberg Lounge, in the midst of an ambiguous, dim light, a group of squat men were laughing, surrounding a red-haired woman tied to a chair.
"Tonight is not the same as I thought…"
It seemed that because their boss, the Penguin, was a short and fat guy, these veteran members were all bloated and had ferocious faces.
"I know what you think, but believe me, this is better," the red-haired woman said. Her hands were tied behind the chair. She wore a black suspender skirt and black one-piece stockings over a pair of plump legs. Because her hands were tied behind her, she leaned forward unconsciously while sitting, and the beautiful scenery of her cleavage made the several short and fat men in front of her even more covetous.
It seemed the execution to extract a confession was about to begin. Behind the chair the woman was sitting in was an open shaft, and if she fell, she would die.
At this moment, under the sign of a squat veteran, a minion walked over and, with one hand, tilted the chair and the person in it back over the edge. If he let go, this hot, red-haired woman would fall right away.
Naturally, Connors would not let that happen. He was not here to kill people; he just came to see the excitement, but this scene made him feel familiar. When the bosses talked to the female spy, it wasn't his turn to interrupt. The minion, after demonstrating for a while, immediately backed off and gave the bosses room to play.
With the help of his "Master of Little Tricks" ability, Connors stood there openly, not letting anyone present notice any clues.
"A mysterious person who can fly between high-rise buildings using transparent silk threads?" The boss listened to the description of the red-haired female spy and smiled disdainfully. "Your false information has harmed you. This is Gotham. Batman is the only one flying in the air. There has never been anything like 'spider silk.'"
"But don't worry. Soon, we'll give you to Batman as a great gift from our Iceberg group!"
The other chunky boss next to him put his hands in his pocket. His stomach bounced as he walked, and his eyes, as big as mung beans, never left the female spy's chest for a moment. "The famous spy, Black Widow, is just a vase."
Connors almost let out a sharp gasp of surprise. No wonder he felt this scene was so familiar. It turned out that this tied-up female spy was the Black Widow. There would be a good show next.
"Do you really think I'm beautiful?" the Black Widow raised her eyebrows, and her chest began to rise and fall again.
Connors was so close that he could even smell a faint fragrance in his nose.
Faced with Black Widow's implicitly provocative words and actions, the chunky boss was unmoved. Instead, he gave the minion from before another look. So the minion walked over, grabbed the Black Widow's red hair with one hand, and pinched her chin with the other.
"You wouldn't mind dancing with us before we give you to Batman, would you?" the chunky boss said. He walked to a tool table where various pliers, drills, and the like were placed, picked up a vise, and turned to look at the Black Widow.
"For our own safety, of course." The boss kept pinching the pliers in his hand, and several gang bosses next to him could no longer hold back and started to take off their pants.
"…..?"
Connors let go of his observation of the Black Widow, then walked up to the boss who was holding her and kicked him in the head.
"Just speak. Don't disgust me."
The big guy was like a ball; he was kicked out and rolled many times on the ground. The gang bosses present were a little confused.
Black Widow was even more dumbfounded. She had her plan going well, so why did such a troublesome guy suddenly appear?
