rut
🕑 Added 2016-10-30 21:29:09 +0000 UTC So I'm in a pretty severe rut at the moment. I've been incredibly stressed and disappointed with my own work as well as the limited success of stuff I've helped work on lately, and most of my motivation and inspiration has been completely vacant.Psychologically creative aspects run in cycles. Your mood, your ability to perceive art, your ability to make art, your motivation, your inspiration, etc. They're not ever stable, they fluctuate. So while I feel down, I at least know it's not permanent.
But either way I'm at a rut where my motivation, inspiration, and mood are all at incredibly low points. I also know my ability and perception is at a stable point for the time being.
And, I think I've gotten to the point where I can get out of the emotional rut I'm in as well. I need to do something more spontaneous, preferably a video or something similar.
A few things I've had ideas for:
- Short film. I really want to make something as a passion project again. I have a loose idea currently that I'm trying to flesh out
- 24 hour animation. I wanna try seeing what I can make for an animation in a single day, given a prompt or gag. Just a sloppily produced, simple animation made for fun. Maybe making them at a regular basis would help.
- Revisiting Gamemaker. I want to come out with an actual, finished game. Something simple. I don't know if I'd build off of the Pivot game I was working on, or make something new, but I just want to get some experience.
- Revisiting Pixel Art. See above.
- Any comics I make, I can dub or animate as well (so long as they're not hentai comics).
- More request streams. Mixture of SFW and NSFW however--streaming through twitch and Youtube would need to be SFW but there's an audience to be built there. While these wouldn't be Patreon exclusive, I'd try to give patrons a bit of a preference as far as requests go. (Streams would go to all options where available--I have restream and a bot to relay chat messages between them.)
For the video based stuff, I want to try and amp up what I do as well. Youtube channels honestly don't flourish from just quality videos--they flourish from personality. A topical, high quality video will get hits, but the channel won't succeed from that alone. My personal channel has the opportunity to be more... well, personal. I feel like it's an untapped resource at the moment.
so yeah, that's about what my plans are for the time being. i know my output's been less than optimal lately.

If you are willing to revisit gamemaker I am willing to work with you on a project. I have a set of prototypes ready but no art at all, in case you want to take a look anyway.
