i think i found something: when the page loads with http all is ok, but with https the site is broken.
try adding A blank space to the bottom of the comic (however much habitually dosent load) just to see if you can get the comic to load and the blank space to be the problem?

I'd call them "targets" rather than distraction. And since aiming center mass is never a bad idea due to its general size...
