Doc Nickel

Thing is, I'm not claiming I "invented" the technique. People have been using the exact same method for a century or more, and while I didn't call it "CAD" back in the day, I started calling it so later- it's an obvious gag. :) It's just that BOM "popularized" the term, and now, if anyone else uses it- regardless of how long they've been using the technique and/or calling it that- it's seen as a "rip off" of Nik and Rich.

I wouldn't dare to dispute someone who goes by "Doc" I was just trying to subtlely hint that I know who Nik and Richard are. (With Rex Hamilton as Abraham Lincoln.) I don't know, was that too subtle?

This is true. I built a car, starting as a teenager, that required... extensive modification. :) My trick back then for fitting replacement sheetmetal patch panels was to lay a piece of manila folder over the opening, trace it, cut it out, trim it to fit, and transfer that pattern to the donor sheetmetal. And yes, I made lots of brackets that way, too. :D

Doc was making "Cardboard Aided Design" references before these guys even started their business... :)

Richard and Nik make two appearances: Cardboard Aided Design and the step drill. There aren't enough brackets, though.

Great job Doc and thanks for taking the time to share it with us!

Wonderful job! Even my father and grandfathers would have been impressed.

..[hit enter too soon] Yours is a very good balance. Just chastise the cameraman and drive on. I was going to make a comment about the risks of not following standard practices, but I see in this video you are wearing a bandage. It appears you ARE making blood sacrifices to multiple mechanical deities. Cheers!

Outstanding! I've watched similar videos that run from "Poof! It's done" to "...and on Tuesday, at 1137.21, I sat with smug anticipation of planning my next segment..."
