Alex’s POV
“Need any help?” I laugh, watching as Olivia scurries around Damien’s kitchen in a panic.
Her motions halt slightly as she turns to face me, but she quickly reverts her attention to the task at hand and pretends as if she didn’t even notice my presence or hear me. I resist the urge to sigh as I lean against the doorway and watch her furiously cut into an onion.
Despite my many attempts at apologies, she remains infuriated with me for my involvement with Áine. My assurances that it was only one kiss and that we are only friends has done nothing to calm the jealousy that runs rampant inside her. In my opinion, if I was able to overlook her years-long infatuation and uncomfortable manage a trois situation with my brother then she should be able to move past one tiny kiss I shared with Áine.
Even Damien was able to get over it and it was his mate I placed my lips upon.
Olivia’s face turns red under my stare and her movements slow, but I refuse to look away. My Beast likes her anger and jealousy. Freya never showed such emotions and it feels good to know that somebody cares enough to get mad.
My Beast also likes that she is still making me dinner despite her fury.
I never thought the day would come that he would be able to view anything another woman did as anything other than annoying and bothersome. Even when I had a minor interest in Áine he was livid and pushing me to leave her alone.
When exactly the shift happened I am unsure, but one day I looked at Olivia and instead of feeling indifference and boredom he was interested and excited. She wasn’t exactly receptive to my advances at first, later admitting that it’s because she thought that I wasn’t serious in my intentions, but after a couple of weeks she softened to me.
We both agreed to keep things casual for the first couple of months and remained silent about our indiscretions. I would sneak over to her cabin almost every night and sink into her body but that’s as far as we allowed it to go.
There was no romance or feelings, which honestly worked well for us considering the fact that she was still pining over Damien and I was struggling to come to terms with Freya’s absence.
The night that she allowed Damien to touch her while Áine watched she came crying to me, claiming to feel guilt-ridden and dirty. She finally admitted that it was only my touch that she wanted. I’ll admit that I was incredibly off-put by her willingness to submit to my brother and his mate’s wishes, but my Beast was the one who urged me to forgive her.
At first I was hesitant about it, unsure how ready I was to commit to another and give up on my hope of reuniting with Freya. However, when the she-wolf came to my home in the middle of the night looking for a quick fuck, I found it incredibly easy to turn her away and crawl back between my sheets onto Olivia’s chest.
The salty scent of her tears hits my nose as I breathe in, and in a panic I rush over to her and pull her body into my chest.
“Why are you crying?” I murmur into her hair as I press soft kisses into the top of her head.
She shrugs and wipes away the tears on her face.
“I knew that I was competing against Freya but didn’t realize that Áine was thrown into the mix too.” She murmurs softly. “One is your true mate and the other is your Luna.” Her voice is rough as she chuckles sadly to herself. “It’s obvious that I don’t have a leg to stand on here.”
My Beast and I are in agreement that we are unhappy with her doubts of my loyalty, but it’s his desires that drive me to lift her on the counter and bury my face in her neck. She continues to sniffle as I kiss and lick the spot where I will place my mark on her someday.
“Olivia,” I mumble into her neck as I finally pull back. I grip her face between my palms and rest my forehead against hers. “I do not know how I can convince you that there is no competition.”
She frowns as I lean forward and press a soft kiss to her forehead.
“Do you think I do not worry that both you and my true mate spent years pining after my brother? That even after we had been together for months that you allowed him to lay you on his desk and touch you.” My Beast is displeasured at the admittance of my fears, but he remains silent as I continue. “Do you think I do not feel insecure that should he and Áine call for you again that you will so easily give in to his wishes?”
Olivia gulps and looks away as I bring up her prior indiscretions. I can smell her shame and embarrassment as I force her to face her actions.
“But,” I start, gently tilting her head so she meets my eye once more. “I choose not to dwell on them because at the end of the day I love and trust you. I don’t believe it is too much to ask you to trust me too.”
Her eyes fill up once more as I speak my truth, but as she takes a deep breath they disappear and her face softens.
“I trust you.” She finally whispers.
I can tell that she is still hesitant as she answers me, but I know that when she bears my mark and can feel my emotions for her that she will no longer doubt me. I am not interested in Freya or Áine or any other woman.
My Beast has chosen the sensitive, emotional human that sits in front of me.
In an attempt to lighten the mood, I look away from her and down at the food that litters the counter.
“What are you making?” I question.
Olivia thankfully takes the bait and pushes at my chest so she can hop back down on the floor.
“It’s a surprise.” She scolds as she pushes me out of the room until I can no longer see what’s happening in the kitchen.
A loud laugh bubbles up out of me as I allow her to place me wherever she pleases.
Her face reddens at my laughter, and as she turns away I grab her arm and pull her back against my chest. I ensure that she can feel my hard length against her back as I hold her to me.
The sweet scent of her arousal fills the room almost immediately, and I feel glad knowing that I can invoke such reactions out of her.
“I have a good feeling about this trip that Damien and Áine are on. When he gets back I’m going to talk to him about marking you and moving you into my home as my chosen mate.” I whisper, loving the sound of her heart fluttering and breath hitching.
My arms around her stiffen just slightly as I wait for her response to my words, my Beast feeling insecure that she will reject us as others have in the past. We’ve expressed a mutual desire to be a mated pair many times, but that was just wishing and this is me actually setting it into motion.
Very different things.
I wish to no longer sneak around with her and hide my true feelings. Besides, it’s painful listening to the snarky remarks that the other Beasts make when they smell her on my skin. Of course I’d never tell her this, but they think that she is just a whore to me and is serving as nothing more than a hole to use until Freya and I reconnect once more.
No amount of arguing and refusal on my end seems to be changing their opinion of Olivia, and I hope that by officially mating with her that they will treat her with the respect that she deserves. The moment she wears my mark I fill her with my seed and put a pup in her.
The mental image of her swollen with my child as me unintentionally grinding against her back once more.
My Beast urges me to bend her over the dining table and breed her now, but I refrain. My sperm is impotent to all but my true mate and any others who bear my mark. She won’t fall pregnant until I’ve marked her, and I should wait until I have talked to Damien first before doing so.
Admittedly I know that he wouldn’t care if he and Áine came home and I had already claimed Olivia, but the other Beasts would see it as a sign of disrespect and it would make life for my human even harder.
“You actually want to mark me?” She whispers, voice quiet.
I hum as I lower my hand to her wrist and wrap my fingers around the small limb. She puts up no fight as I lift her arm and press her fingers against the spot where she will mark me.
“Yes.” I answer as she takes initiative and prods at my neck. “And I want you to mark me too. I want everybody to know that I belong to you.”
The small of her salty tears return as she fumbles around for my hand and squeezes it tightly.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.” I immediately respond, my statement ending with a grunt as she spins around in my arms and cups my manhood.
My head drops down and I watch with wide eyes as she loosely curls her fingers around my hard length. Her actions are confident as she releases me so she can hook both of her fingers into the waistband of my underwear and tug it down to my ankles. She drops down with the fabric, her knees lightly hitting the floor as she looks up at me through hooded eyes.
“I believe it should be me on my knees.” I chuckle as she licks her lips and drops her attention to my cock.
A strained groan escapes me as she leans forward and softly licks the tip. My eyebrows furrow together in confusion as she frowns and pulls back slightly. Does she not like my taste? I made sure to shower and wash thoroughly before coming here.
My Beast grumbles as she senses my embarrassment and chuckles.
“Take off your shirt.” She orders.
Happy that she isn’t rejecting me as I initially thought, I quickly tear off the fabric and drop it to the floor. She immediately snatches it and places it underneath her, creating a barrier between the hard floor and her knees.
Before I can even begin to feel guilty for allowing her to pleasure me in such an uncomfortable position, her mouth is on me once more and I’m burying her hands in her hair to help guide her. She admitted to me the other week that she has never pleasured a man with her mouth before, and I’ve been all too eager to teach her what I like.
And she’s all too happy to learn.
“Grip me harder.” I moan out as she slides her hand along the skin her mouth cannot reach.
She does so immediately, the additional pressure causing me to throw my head back in pleasure. My heart falls at the sight of Damien’s Beast and Áine emerging from the woods.
“Fuck.” I groan as I reach down and grab Olivia’s arm with one hand and my discarded clothing with the other.
My movements are awkward as I shuffle us forward until she is hidden behind the kitchen counter. Finally catching on to what’s happening, Olivia moves to stand but I place my hand on top of her head to keep her in place.
She watches me with wide eyes as I pull my underwear up my hips before reaching in and pulling out my cock through the slit in the front.
“Don’t start something you can’t finish.” I tease as I grip my length and rub my tip against her bottom lip.
Her hesitance annoys my Beast, but not wanting to make her feel uncomfortable I pull back and move to tuck myself away. Her small hand flies out to stop me at the last minute, and I look down in shock as the sexiest smirk I’ve ever seen somebody possess spreads across her face.
“I wouldn’t dream of it.”
My mouth falls open in shock as she wraps her lips around me once more, my brain short wiring as Áine storms in through the door and marches through the house. She shoots me a quick glance as she passes by but says nothing about my current undressed state as she stomps towards the stairs.
“Trouble in paradise?” I joke.
She glares daggers at me at my sad attempt at teasing, her attention quickly leaving me as Damien storms in after her. He didn’t even bother changing after shifting, his Beast forcing him to walk naked through the house in an attempt to reach and soothe his mate as soon as possible.
His attention briefly falls to me as he walks past, his gaze dropping down to where the top of Olivia’s head is visible from behind the counter. I offer him a crooked smile and push her head down slightly as his lips turn down in disgust. It’s none of his business what she is doing to me.
“Open the fucking windows when you’re done.” He grumbles before losing interest in me altogether and following Áine up the stairs.
I wonder what he did to make her so angry, but don’t have any chance to ponder it as Olivia speeds up her movements on me. My head falls back as I let out a silent moan.
I’ll figure out what’s up with them after my cum has coated Olivia’s throat.
