From what I understand the contestants have full freedom to go wherever they want, but they do have to move at a given interval, so can't just slip away and then hide for a month. They also have to make a certain number of phone calls, transactions with credit cards, ask for rides with members of the public etc. and give access to social media profiles for monitoring. That way there is a certain pace of the pursuit. But they really were out there for a week and a half hiding away, and apparently there is a lot left on the cutting room floor, I think they said they had multiple Michelin meals along the way. I wish there was a full four episode series of each team, especially since a couple of the other ones were dire watching. And the control room scenes are awful, just awful filler.

Also something you might have missed and that they cut out of the edit is that they went to pinewood which is up until s20 taskmaster and loads and film and tv have been filmed!

Also watch / listen to any interview with Andy Devonshire - he’s got an instagram - he’s done the transformative taskmaster podcast and might well happily talk to you! Absolutely lovely guy and a huge part of the how the show is iconic

The speakmans were the other contenders 😂 Also Nikesh Patel (the contender I forgot about) weirdly plays rose matafeo’s love interest in her hit hbo/ bbc show Starstruck. And rose is famously Jame’s ex girlfriend and good friends with Ed!

“Probably a window seat” from James followed by Ed’s rage is why they work so well together. They have so much in common with their little best friends trio with Nish but this juxtaposition is perfect.
