Sian Gibson does a wonderful job in this. Such a small little role, but it ties the whole memory/present day stuff together and it would be easy to make that too mawkish and sentimental, but she pitches it perfectly.

Everyone knows that Les Cheese and Sid Onion copyrighted the phrase "Cheese and Onion" ages ago. Even if Les dies due to multiple non-human organ failures and Sid never gets out of Turkish prison, there' still the Hologram Les Cheese to retain the rights. Just ask the Beef and Dairy Network.

The Tina Turner Joke of having tights on his head and ping pong balls for eyes is something Reece actually did in one of their earlier shows 😅

Finally watched!! Did not disappoint! This episode is just devastating. Breaks my heart!!

Yes it’s Sian ❤️ The acting abilities of Reece and Steve are insane in this!

My personal favourite episode of the show, it's so tragic just punches you in the chest with that ending. Also obviously close to home for Reece and Steve. They've known each other since university worked together for decades as they get older they said with double acts someone always has to go first, they saw a picture of Stan Laurel by himself after Oliver Hardy died and it broke their heart. When Reece was on Richard Herrings podcast he told a story about doing a Q+A and someone came up to the mic and asked 'which one of you is gunna die first'😅 the lack of tact is unbelievable

Makes me cry every time I watch it. Superb writing and performances.

They never topped this, in my opinion. Yewtree refers to Operation Yewtree, an investigation into sexual abuse allegations made against a number of TV and radio celebrities from the 1960s-1980s, many involving young girls and women.

I do think this is among one of the most well constructed episodes of television of all time, the emotional punch it delivers in just half an hour is pretty unmatched

Aah, Ecky Thump, the ancient Lancastrian method of self defence, according to The Goodies. We thought it was hilarious back in the day and still say “ooh Ecky Thump”, but some of their show couldn’t be on TV today.

That explains that bizarre random line about an ostrich lol. Thats really interesting

Just a beautiful episode. Pemberton won a BAFTA for his performance in it. Bernie Clifton was a big name in variety in the 70s and 80s, his schtick was he "rode" around on one of those ostrich costumes you stick your actual legs through. Virtually every picture you'll see of him will have that costume in it. Probably cost more than £25 though (but you wouldn't think it by looking).
