Hey finally have a reoccurring request for y’all. Any chance you could cover the public student student load forgiveness plan. Pretty much the tldr is work for a nonprofit or the government for10 years while making “reduced” payment and get your Lorns forgiven. Now it’s all fucked and pretty much wage theft. Well there are different payback plans and one plan (I believe the most popular) has been in litigation for a year. They just sent out a mail on Jan 16th that they don’t expect to be able to accept payments until September. This means all the prople

Yes I would love to hear about this! It's very frightening.

I called Fetterman's office to urge him to vote no, but the reporting is that not nearly enough Dems are going to do so

An in depth deep dive of Todd Blanche, Emil Bove, and John Sauer and all other lawyers who have avoided much public scrutiny, they need to be exposed and held accountable for any wrongdoing that they have committed.

Might be too late, but whatever the heck is going on at the Arkansas Supreme Court. According to a majority of the court the newly elected chief Justice came in, fired people she wasn't allowed to fire unilaterally (in retaliation) and unilaterally appointed judges to the 'Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission'. Now there are rivaling orders from her and from the other justices on the court accusing each other of foul play. It sounds glorious : "If carried out, those terminations would disrupt the administration of justice across the state of Arkansas,” ... “The Chief Justice did not notify—let alone consult—the court before attempting to unilaterally fire these long-tenured court employees" From another order of the Chief Justice trying to block the court from blocking her(???): The constitutional office of the Chief Justice is an elected position for a reason, I am the people’s choice for Chief Justice — not any of the associate justices, whether together or separate.” BTW, this is a liberal chief judge fighting with a conservative majority, it still sounds bonkers. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/01/08/arkansas-supreme-court-firings-karen-baker/5c1f09b8-ce26-11ef-be73-ad8966084721_story.html https://arkansasadvocate.com/2025/01/03/arkansas-supreme-court-majority-blocks-chief-justices-attempt-to-fire-10-judiciary-employees/ https://apnews.com/article/arkansas-supreme-court-firings-d6a981ac533c2a2a31f5d19bd28392e0 https://apnews.com/article/arkansas-supreme-court-firings-karen-baker-7152fc9476093fe07db8e70bd5548848

Karen Read is still an innocent woman!! Hehe

Even if just a few minutes on this. I was so stoked for Jeff Jackson when he won AG, but now they have tied his hands and muted his ability to do basically anything

HOUSE RESOLUTION 7!!! Introduced by fucking ANDY BIGGS!! Its worse than you think H.Res.7 - Recognizing the importance of access to comprehensive, high-quality, life-affirming medical care for women of all ages. https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-resolution/7/text
Emma Joy Jampole
Yes! Particularly the new permission to call trans people “it” and to refer to women as “possessions” or “household objects.”

Maybe a short bit on why Alito meeting with Trump today (right before sentencing) is concerning and an ethics disaster.

I couldn't let "sue aspontay" go unrecognized. Fantastic work. 😂

The Batson Challenge and Peremptory challenges. I know you guys normally speak to current events, but I would submit that what is practically allowed when forming a jury is absolutely current.

My wife and I have over a decade in the online advertising tech industry. When the MegaLag video dropped and created a fuss we watched it together. Our jaws dropped at what he was describing. No idea how the scam got this big and went this far without it blowing up like this until now. To describe the whole thing as an audacious fraud is an understatement.

Specifically, given LegalEagle is participating he's of course not going to critique his own lawsuit. While I'm rooting for him (and against PayPal), I would be curious to hear analysis of how strong the case is, especially given how from a technology perspective it may be exploring new territory. Or - I want to get my hopes up that PayPal will pay, but I'm worried they'll win. I want to know if I can be hopeful this will go well.

I did want to talk about this for at least a few minutes this week, but i will say here that i am very concerned that this the kind of thing they are trying to speed through even before their guy is in office to sign it. It's terribly written and i doubt that most of the people voting for it have any idea what it will actually do

I don't know how much of a legal thing it is, but maybe a brief look at Facebook's new stance on not moderating some extremely specific content

Lame.
Wishing every Clarence Thomas a very God rest his soul
Sam Altman's sister's lawsuit alleging all sorts of abuse. I think OpenAI also has another lawsuit by elon musk. So maybe a dive into those??
Shad Riley
Sorry for the overuse of exclamation points, but this seems pretty bad. Hopefully it won't pass the Senate and perhaps we should wait to panic until then.

Laken Riley Act This seems like an extremely bad immigration bill. (1) Adding to inadmissible aliens, anyone who is arrested for(!!!) or convicted of burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting as defined by their local jurisdiction. (2) Mandatory detainers (3) Giving State AG's enforcement authority!!!!!! What the actual fuck!
The world's most reluctant ray of sunshine
Specifically, I'm interested to know if we can tell whether all this "annexation" talk is legitimately something Drumpf thinks he can do, or if it's a dumpster fire to distract from the actual bureaucratic evil his administration is setting up
get in the way!
it's likely going to be covered elsewhere, so if you don't fancy it, cool. but wtf is going on with federalist society weirdo cannon and her blocking a release of the DOJ report? honestly, her new drag name should be sue aspontay.
Tim H
Two topics come to mind: 1) I can't recall if it was already discussed (sorry been on vacation not caught up) around the Steve Vladeck and the judge battling it out on the Federalist Society convention panel? That was a good one and relevant given SCOTUS end of year memo. https://www.stevevladeck.com/p/109-things-fall-apart 2) Garland's final report -- I mean why not just have Biden release it as an 'official act' -- done. That topic becomes moot right? Everyone says it's Biden's DOJ anyway, cool, he has the authority, making an internal report about a gov't activity public is an official act -- boom, SCOTUS cleared the way, right?!?!?!?
Probably a real person
Two Federal Death Row inmates want to refuse President Biden's commutation for fear that it will make their legal position worse.

I know it is dumb, but given the distraction/dimensia talk about Canda and Greenland, what would NATO invoking article against the US look like.
Vehicular Man's Laughter slipping on icy roads BUT as DADS listeners know, you just steer into the slide and grrr-rip into it
Patron shoutouts. But also NC Supreme Court fuckery.

Greenland (Denmark) and Canada have complex governments that have wide agreements with native North Americans. If we show up, there will be a second trail of tears.

This would be a game changer for so many people. Do you think Trump will squash this? https://www.npr.org/sections/shots-health-news/2025/01/07/nx-s1-5251282/medical-debt-credit-score-cfpb-rule

If you haven’t covered it already (I’m behind on a couple episodes) taking a look at the LegalEagle lawsuit against Honey browser extension (PayPal) would be interesting. I can’t see how this isn’t at least Fraud with some potential extortion and possibly racketeering thrown in. https://www.theverge.com/2025/1/5/24336236/youtube-creators-suing-paypal-honey-extension-affiliate-link-swapping

An update on the alex jones situation perhaps. Earlier this week we found out his parents are getting a payout from the settlement before the sandy hook families and I wanna know why
