Early & Ad Free: Delos 2.0 SNEAK PEEK + Your Questions Answered!
🕑 Added 2024-08-02 13:00:12 +0000 UTCAhoy Delos Tribe! We're taking the week off from our normal episodes as we are just sooo incredibly swamped at the moment...we are on our final push to finish a few critical parts of the build before we leave Australia (we're going to film a little update for you guys as soon as we can and let you know all our upcoming plans!). But we didn't want to leave everyone hanging on this friday so we thought it would be fun to reply to some comments and answer a few questions (we filmed this when we were still on Delos when we first started releasing the videos announcing Delos 2.0!) and we also have a pretty sweet little teaser to show you a bit of what's coming up in these future episodes to get you excited for next week's boat build premiere!
Sending lots of love and hugs from all of us!

On Delos 2.0 Will you employ in mast furling? Do you wish you had a mizzenmast?

Brian what thoughts do you have on the double distmasting on Aquarius (Amel?) JerryU

Progress is looking great! It's so hard to sit on the other side of the world. I want to see it in person! Also hard not to try to solve any issue that you bring up. Looking great and good luck. Also safe travels

Hey Sean, this is the song! Vivaldi, The Four Seasons, Violin Concerto in F Minor, Op. 8 No. 4, RV 297 Winter III. Allegro - Michelle Ross. Gotta throw in the classics every once in a while haha

Your discussion about minimizing complexity immediately made me think of the amazing progression SpaceX has made with their Raptor engine design. Check out the reduction in complexity their engineers have achieved. https://x.com/tomcaban/status/1819724379267219535?s=61&t=ky8uKg2lWIMAxaOuJKBtAQ

We could for sure, it's an interesting idea to consider. Thanks for that!

Hey Lowell, yeah we've chatted in the past. It's a real shame what happened, no one needs that! Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Brian. I don't know if you are familiar with Sailing Aquarius Around the World but in their latest video Ken discuses losing both masts of their Amel 53 SM on the last leg of their circumnavigation. Delos makes a quick cameo.

Erik has this awesom flir cam. https://youtu.be/WPpxJtdL8Gs?si=UcGogrjg2XC7eUOj

Have to come up with a design where the tenders are like Russian dolls that fit inside each other!
Patricia
Could you build access to the life raft compartment from under the bench on the other side? That way it could still live where it is but you could get at it from the Maggie side or the outdoor lounge side 🤔
Sailing SV Delos
Maybe we need a lighter, smaller dinghy that's easier to pull up onto the beach AND a bigger Maggie dinghy for the explorer missions.... :)

I love the concept of the OC but It felt a bit “tippy” compared to Maggie. Also I would love an alloy bottom with composite hull so I can still smash it into things!
Andrew Berry
On your discussion about Maggie, will you stick with a larger aluminium tender or go to something like a rigid OC Tender ?
William Flower
Every time you two talk about this or that part of Delos 2.0, I imagine you are on sail, actually using that very part, and how it takes on the wear and tear of the voyage.

Could not agree more Colleen! Just brings a lot of joy and happiness to be brought along on this beautiful and crazy life trip!

I'm on time today! But what can I say? This was an interesting yet abbreviated Q and A on this SV Delos Friday.

So great to see you guys talk through all the design decisions. Fascinating stuff! Question please: what was the music during the preview at the end?
Nancy D
I second that feeling!

What is it in this life that connects us all? Sitting here feeling so deeply joyful about how things are happening for you that my eyes are leaky. Thanks for bringing us along.
