Hey Skip, yes there is. Two actually- one for each rudder!

Hey Ken, yes absolutely. But luckily both engine rooms are equally spaced (within a small margin depending on location of specific equipment) that I can go weight for weight. However larger things like the batteries can be placed closer to the centerline so there will need to be some tweaking and adjusting here I suppose.

Hey Courtney! Just ye' ole' backup tillers direct to the rudder stock. But yes, they can in fact be isolated quite easily if some part of the system fails.

Hey Brian what is your back up steering system? seems that if the chain would become jammed you could have and issue. Is there a way to isolate the rudders?

Love the well engineered steering. Love the ‘Do it right - do it once’ philosoph. Not sure about Dan’s steel-rule-hammer at 15:29 😂🤣. Using a square might give it more precision Ha-ha 🤣😂

Catching up on Delos video today. I like to save and binge so I'm not left waiting for the next one. I know you keep a lot of spare parts onboard in case anything goes wrong. Is there room in the starboard engine side to store some of those parts and offset the weight even more?

Im seventy this year. I’m a EE by degree, but Industrial Automation was my career. Home remodeling, building multiple decks, automotive repairs, and now gardening in retirement. When balancing port and starboard don't you need to allow for the distance from the centerlne? 100 kilos near the centerline may balance 10 kilos near the edge of the hull.

It's that time again! It is Sailing Vessel Delos Friday, so, obviously I must hit that button called PLAY! : - ) BTW - I got my first (and maybe last) sail of the year this last Tuesday 10/22/24. Only 1 1/2 hours and 4.5 NM sailed on Keuka Lake here in central New York State. : - ) It was a very nice sail, but my 4 hp Evenrude outboard refused to start. That made getting out of the boat ramp/launch area a bit difficult. But it was sunny and close to 80 degrees F - summer in October! Oh, and it was great seeing all of you guys at the Annapolis Sailboat Show! About this episode, . . . some may say you were giving us the shaft, steering us in the wrong direction, and yanking our chain. But then they may think they can make their sailboat go by blowing wind into their own sails from their own lungs! LOL This was a great explanation of how Delos 2.0 will be able to sail circles around other boats! : - )

I would be almost positive Brian has a plan B. If not, the Beauty of a metal boat is you can literally build out what you need in minutes to hours as opposed to a Fiber plastic boat. I am certain Brian will store raw aluminum on that boat and a welder most definitely.

Love the rock solid steering design. Question - is there a provision for an emergency tiller and access? Meaning if you lose a rudder (or the gearbox fails) can you get a temporary tiller on either of the rudder post shafts? I know you will probably never need it but as we all know s**t happens.

This is so exciting, one major system done, check. Everything you do from now on will add up fast. I guess you will soon start roughing in the plumbing, electrical conduits, and tanks. Way to go Bri and Kazza! Also, Sierra is growing up so fast, I guess being around other children is a blessing for her, cheers from Montreal.
