Tactics Cafรฉ Devlog #3 - Introducing Lei
🕑 Added 2021-04-05 19:00:37 +0000 UTCHeya guys o/
Meet Lei, the amnesiac fairy! She was found unconscious together with Io, and with both of them having lost their memories, she teams up with him to recover them!
A tsundere personality, she might have difficulties at showing her true emotions but deeply she does care about Io and worries about her memories.
I hope you guys give her a warm welcome <3
Onward with the current state of the game~
Last few weeks I've been working on getting a system working to handle skill animations. Each character has 3 (attack included) skills that are unique to them but also are able to use any item that has item-specific skills, and each of these skills will have an animation tied to them that can be played with any character.
My approach to it was to create a custom extension to the Timeline system in unity, which allows me to use my characters and call their animations no matter which character it is. It also lets me switch to whichever camera I want the animation to be played from!
As you can see in the gif, it is currently missing visual effects, which is what I plan to work on next!
What's Next?
As mentioned above, I will be working on adding visual effects to the animation system and then implementing these animations so that they can be called during a real combat scenario!
Between this system and the character reveal, it ended up taking a lot more time than I imagined and thus had to delay the devlog to today rather than last week. Hopefully it was worth the wait with Lei's reveal!! Really happy with her design! As a little bonus before I go away, here is her concept art!
P.S. Thank you everyone for the increased support on patreon, it really makes me happy to know more of you guys are looking forward to the content I make <3
