Weird stuff we did as kids before the internet

Skoal cans, electrical tape, and BP were pretty cool.

Mostly explosives-related, as I look back, but there were many, many adventures - from time in the woods in western Massachusetts to time in the hood in the South End of Boston, blowing up flaming Coke bottles filled with gas in New Hampshire with a .22, to melting one of mom's glass pudding cups with potassium chlorate and magnesium chips - yup, they thought a chemistry set would be educational. It was - to a budding demolitions apprentice. Home-made rockets galore to powdered magnesium bombs - it's a wonder I lived this long; mothers today would be horrified. Funny, but in those days we never dreamed of hurting anyone with these experiments.
We tried that a couple times after finding good balls that were 'chunked' by the lawn mower. We were out in the country, so we were more likely to find ways to propel the balls at high speed though. Lol. Great video!!

As a kid in the 80s I was that little risk-averse dweeb who was always saying "I don't know, guys. We might get in trouble..."

I had a Diana model 1. And match head + spent film was the most awesome smoke bombs. Never did golf balls tho. Far too rich for my blood.

We cut up golf balls, too. I never had one unwind like that, though. I also had a multi-toy. It was a rifle, a sword, a bat, a flagpole... the kids who had money called it a stick. We made rockets from crushed matchheads, although sometimes they were bombs. We were never quite sure.

I did about 10 golf balls one day, loved liquid cores. I liked to cut all the way to watch the rubber bands spring back.
