Magnetron Beryllium Slugs - Take 2 - Faster!
🕑 Added 2020-06-06 03:06:56 +0000 UTCWe take another look at Evan's magnetron slugs - he sent so many the first time that we had 6 left over. This time we are able to do a ballistic gel test, as well as other shots on oddball targets to try to figure out what the purpose a ceramic slug would be. The answer is not expected.

Tie me gel block down, mate, tie me gel block down. Don't let it be flying around, mate, tie me gel block down.
Yes, beryllium is dangerous to your health. I had a contract with the U.S. DOE a dozen years ago at a contaminated facility (beryllium). I had to be tested for beryllium sensitivity before I could be hired. Any time we had to work in buildings that were contaminated, full hazmat suits and respirators were required.
The gel block was the best it really showed the energy transfer.

Beryllium is really damned nasty. Think asbestos-grade bad.
