It's got its problems, and it practically perfected the art of gratuitous ecchi, but it's filled to the brim with heart and is a great show to just sit back and take in with a group of friends and some beers. That said, as a fight-based anime, I've always thought it was lacking. Here's a bit of analysis of the "fight scenes" in Food Wars and why I think they don't always work. Hope you enjoy(ed)!
