Difference is, a Zero 5 is straight up impossible because of the ZX story. A Zero 5 would be as non-canon as X Command Mission due to contradictions. It also doesn't really have that different of an identity in terms of gameplay. ZX1 is basically just Zero 1 on steroids in terms of gameplay, even taking the Metroidvania + Mission structure from that game and actually doing something with it. ZX Advent is further from Zero (And ZX1 too frankly) by being less hack and slash, but ZX and Zero are still far closer than X and Classic in terms of gameplay. There's far less of a paradigm shift between Zero and ZX than there was between X and Zero, and Classic and X. There's a reason Zero and ZX were bundled in the Legacy Collections, they're one series.

Fair point but I've never heard anyone make that connection since ZX has it's own identity. That's like saying the start of the x series is the end of the classic series whatever game will be the end of that time era (putting it out there that there will be a Mega Man 12) And if you think about it the DNA souls in the extreme games can be a progenitor of the cyber Elves and the cyber Elves are the progenitor of the biometals.

So, Omega being the OG Zero is actually meant to be the culmination of his story from the X series. Omega is Wily's intended Zero. In fact, some think Weil is Wily. It would make perfect sense, Wily became Serges and Isocc in the X games, why couldn't his remaining, nearly-dead human form be Weil? It works better in the context of Mega Man as an overarching franchise than it does in just the game itself. EDIT: Also, totally unrelated but a fan-made remake of Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest just came out and it's pretty good. Idk if you were aware of it, but it's excellent and I highly recommend it.

ZX is Zero 5 though. A Zero 5 would never make sense. Zero/ZX is one series. Also if we really want that to happen, just get Ted to say it'll never happen.

I’m surprised you didn’t at least mention the badass music piece that plays against Omega Zero at the end of Zero 3, Cannon Ball. It’s definitely my favorite piece from the zero series.

I know I’ll get flack for this but I’m not a fan of this game’s design for Zero. I have no nostalgia for any Mega Man series, but I always thought the original Zero design was great when exposed to it in Smash and MvC.

Listened to this while at work. I know Zero 1 gets flack for being tough, but this was the game I was stuck on for a while as a kid. And beating it for the first time after months of getting whipped, that rush never left me. I revisit Zero 1 sometimes, like meeting an old teacher and blitz through it. That and 4 are my faves.

For anyone curious: the arranged music albums released for all the Zero games are *definitely* worth your time. They still use synthetic instruments (except for the Resonnant Vie and Mythos albums), but they sound soooo much better than the chiptunes on GBA hardware.
