Airships intermezzo

I am still a bit stuck with how to approach my Grenzwacht walls, so I allowed a tweet to kick me in the direction of airships for a little while.
This is something that has been requested many times and for quite some time so I thought I could try to squeeze a little project in before I continue with the Grenzwacht setting.
My main ideas is to have addon parts that you use with the ships I have so the most basic version will be a 2D wing layer that you can place your hull on (and all of that on a stand to make it fly).
I have done some sketching and I will start with some cloth sail type wings that will fit perfectly with my Pirate Fleet Builder ships. I will start with the three smaller ships, the rowing boat, jolly boat and the gun ship and see how it goes.
For the wings I will do some horizontal 2D plates but I also want to add some "vertical" wings/sails to attach on the sides or in the back as a rudder and maybe even some to go on top or below the hull.
Other options I am thinking of are turbines/propellors but I might create new metal skins for the ship hulls as I think this would make more sense.
Another idea that was thrown along my way, are wing elements in shape of feathers or insect wings but I have to wrap my head around how I would tackle those first.
Anyway I am really enjoying this as the creative juices are flowing without problems so far :)
On the private front, I am soooo happy to announce that our apartment is back in good order. Everything is back, rebuilt, repaired and working! Only thing left is to unbox everything we have stored and put it back in all the drawers, shelves and cupboards. That might still take a while but in any case it's such a relief to have a proper "home, sweet home" :D
