🕑 Added 2025-03-25 07:34:30 +0000 UTCEDIT 11/04/25 - Well, it looks like they've killed modding dead with their Season 2 patch. They did this by essentially creating a file white list that the game will interact with that we can't edit... meaning it'll just ignore any loose packed files.
So basically, them not touching modding during Season 1.5 was mostly just them working on a more thorough fix!
A real shame as I had prepared a number of mods for this game... well, modding is apparently not completely dead - but you won't be able to play with mods on their servers. I'm unclear on the details... but there seems to be some suggestions that private servers can be used and mods can be run there... but outside of that, we'll just have to use the gooner skins that Netease themselves create - and well... gotta admit that's a pretty goony skin on Emma Frost!
Sorry to disappoint! I'm more disappointed than most I'd say.

if you guys are interested in Marvel Rivals mods - let me know, as it'll encourage me to continue producing these - as they're otherwise very time consuming to produce (the modding process for Unreal Engine is just a lot more finicky and time consuming than the one for 3DM - you can do more in theory, but it just takes longer and requires much more technical knowledge, and I'm not quite plugged into that side of the modding community).
Also, these mods aren't really constrained by the 30 day early access rule (different modding communities) - but I'll still be releasing a variety (if not necessarily all) of these Marvel Rival mods publically - especially once I'm more certain that I'll regularly be making these.
INSTRUCTIONS
Goto your Marvel Rivals game directory, navigate to the Paks directory and make a new folder called ~mods and place the unzipped .pak file in there.
(If you're using steam it'll look like)
~\Steam\steamapps\common\MarvelRivals\MarvelGame\Marvel\Content\Paks\~mods
That's it! Load up your game and it should work.
NOTE
Due to the early nature of Marvel Rivals modding, these mods can and will break as the developer patches and updates the game - and won't be permanently supported by myself. Community made tools may be available to update broken mods, but isn't guaranteed!
