Um. There's no mistaking that sound for anything but a snare drum. You can hear the high end buzz of the snares, and the reverb. You can even hear drum ROLLS in the middle of the clip, in addition to the single hits.

Sure sounds like a snare drum to me. The only thing I wonder about is the possibility of something rubbing against the mike or the sound of a cord rustling on a surface. Those wouldn't sound like a drum, though, but like that static - y sound.
