First of all, for the new members let me lay out the kind of game this will be:
The game is hybrid, meaning it has multiple styles:
Visual Novel
Dating Sim
RTS Tactical Strategy
Management Clicker & Minigames
Why this mix?
Because I want you to experience travelling the galaxy, fighting evil and chasing the exotic babes. Also what it would be like to explore romance & friendships during times of crisis.
It's a whole different feel when you come back and rest on your GF's lap after an exhausting battle, she can comfort you. (Or harem if you go that route).
Also the game now has SO MUCH MORE for the visual novel to talk about, each scene tons of things are happening in the galaxy and the real world: it's not just 'Oh, Kenji San, I saw you in class yesterday'.

Unfortunately with RTS, it's much harder to show frequent updates...because its kind of either done or it isn't. This is because it only starts to look awesome once the GUI is finished but to finish the GUI, you need all the functionality...I could take a break and just make it standin, do some design; but i'm eager to get as much functionality done for the Demo.
Img: two different sprite types. You've seen the fighters and they are quite colourful, but the battleships and these ones above have an almost grayscale feel. Before finishing, i need to decide on the colour palette. However, for non-interactable ships, it makes sense to reduce their colour saturation.
How the RTS will play out:
1. You have replicators and constructors
2. You collect resources: copper, Iron, Tantalum, Void Matter, Solar Energy, Tensor Field flux and more.
3. With these resources, you can build more units: the more variety of resources the more sophisticated the things you can build.
4. You are in constant contact with Fel, Kira, Tabby and sometimes Amu.
5. Things happen in battle LOTS OF THINGS. There are lots of dialogue scenes, and i'm leaving in the mechanism to let you do the whole thing by responding to choices in a visual novel style (thats more work, so it wont be in the demo but will be in the final build and maybe the 2nd demo)
6. Extra surprises: i'll not give it all away, but its not just click, command repeat. There are a lot of things to keep you busy (if you chose to do so).
Expanding the dimensions
Like Command and Conquer: You eventually get lots of battlefield abilities, super weapons, Buff unlocks, tech tree (not in C&C) .
Cyber hub: With Cypher on board, your ability to cross penetrate various alien technologies increase. As the game progresses, you'll want to upgrade your cyber abilities early, because they will be attacking you too.
This will sound confusing without an example...butif you think about it, the virtual and the real may eventually intersect - so in this telling, you don't just knock out their units or take control. You can GENERATE MATTER in their base, control matter and they can do the same to you. More to come on this.
Skrill Constructs
No SciFi epic is complete without an ancient race that's left hyper advanced junk scattered everywhere. This game is no different, for example; void matter doesn't just appear - it's virtual exotic matter.
As an example, sometimes you will find a Skrill Void obelisk; here and around this area void matter will gather.
Oh, btw my progress is something like this:
Basics: Done
Camera zoom: Done
Unit control: Done
Units completed: Fighter, Frigate, battleship, harbinger, replicator. (Just need 3 more for the demo- only a days work or so)
Things left to do:
Gui Completion (up to State 3)
Maps (I want pretty space maps, purple nebula, gas clouds )
Major Skirmish 2 (There is a second major battle scene i'm working on i want to ship with the Demo, as a 'tech demo')
Interactable terrain

AMU Spoilers:
OK, I really don't know how much I should spill about her - but let me assure you, she has been the key character EVEN AHEAD OF FEL, right from the start of my design for this game.
If you read how I described her in the beginning of this blog that will give you a hint. Also if you think about my previous posts and also the story (specifically the opening chapters i've written about here and in discord)....you might be able to connect the dots

Dont worry man, you can set it in auto and play by just talking to them like its a VN but stuff is happening. That makes it more cinematic like 👍

Clapathons won't be developed until towards the end of the game, i'm still working out the best way to include NSFW content so steam doesn't throw a hissy fit. That said, I might add a little sneak peak in the end of demo 1 only on patreon for you guys.
