🕑 Added 2025-01-08 00:17:27 +0000 UTCBrian, Brian, Brian—he wasn't exactly the cream of the crop when it comes to humanity. Unlike his buddy Straker, who had a cushy 9-to-5 job pushing paper, Brian worked catering in the same building.
Though if truth be told, he spent most of his time cleaning floors, removing chewing gum, and unblocking toilets.
That was, until Straker asked him to be his wingman at a speed dating event. Neither Brian nor Straker was a hit with the ladies, but if they struck out, at least they'd have each other's backs.

Morrigan scratched the back of her ears in frustration. "What the f*ck is speed dating?"
"Uh, just what it sounds like, boss," Selina cocked her head, trying to work out why Morrigan was so interested in this particular batch of humans to be collected.
Morrigan returned an icy stare, causing Selina to shrug apologetically. "So let me get this right, Straker's going to sit down with a bunch of girls and they fight over him, right?"
"Uh, not quite," the dark, 7-foot Sekarri lady had her back to the others as she rummaged through Morrigan's cognac cabinet. With everyone else in fleet uniforms, Makara looked out of place in her emerald green dinner dress.
"Basically, men fight over women, not the other way around. But they like to pretend it's a level playing field."
Finding a rare vintage, Makara extracted the bottle, popped the cork and poured herself a ‘reasonable’ sized dollop. “Anyways, the girls sit at a table, as the men chat them up for about 3 minutes before they have to get up and move on to the next table.”
A loud booming noise caused everyone in the room to jump, Morrigan’s fist had dented the top reinforced nanolayers of her Tactical Command desk.
“Kin-hell boss! I about shat myself,” Selina rubbed at the fur on her arms, patting down ruffled uneven tufts.
“You’re telling me, that human females just sit there whilst the men walk in circles around them?...” Morrigan lamented.
“I know right,” Makara sniffed at her empty glass, “all that easy meat and they just act coy.”
“Ok, fine. Let’s move on,” Morrigan gestured for the girls to rise and join her on the way to the bridge, “the speed dating place is just 4 blocks from Straker’s workplace. Our spy drones can profile Straker cleanly there, without the stupid Vanguard’s bots cottoning on to us.”
“Uhm, boss, if we want him that bad, can’t we just ask Rhyzark to give us another 50 humans and include him. in hte list” Selina, cocked her head again, inquisitively.
“No go, my sister’s got a stiff bean for that boy – I have no idea why, but I can’t wait to see the look on her stuck up face once we beat her to the punch and snatch him.”
“So, we intercept the transports right” Makara brushed the bangs from her eyes, as they walked passed the living quarters in corridor 1-D.
“That’s the plan,” Morrigan returned a wink as they prepared to enter the bridge.

“WHAT THE F*CK!! He’s not Straker!” five holes of increasing depth pitted the tactical command desk.
“Our strategic AIs promised us with 99% confidence that we had profiled Straker correctly,” Makara rolled her eyes at the thought of the strategic AI’s being any more than 50% right, half the time.
“Shit, it’s her,” Morrigan sighed in defeat. She turned to the holographic coms console, and accepted the call. A lifelike, full sized being sparkled into existence.
“You bloody asshats, you got the wrong guy” a tall imposing lioness looking Sekarri paced the room, her shapely form passing through people and furniture without so much as a flicker.
“Don't you think we don't know that,” Morrigan glared at her, “care to tell us, why he isn’t with us right now?”
“It’s your screw up, so the boys stays with me at the reserve fleet for now, oh by the way – his name is Brian.”
