Converge "Jane Doe" - ALBUM REACTION / REVIEW

Outside of “Thaw”, this album never clicked with me. I was a freshman in college when this came out and bands like Haste and Poison the Well resonated more with me. I was “there” for this movement in music. Converge, sadly, just never did it for me. The Shape of Punk to Come is on an island by itself. It influenced and shaped the majority of music we all listen to today whether people want to admit it or not. The same way Helmet influenced the majority of the Nu-metal bands. While Jane Doe didn’t necessarily move me, its influence and importance in the history of metal is undeniable.

Overrated. Agree, Shape of Punk to Come and Define the Great Line are the most influential metalcore out there. So many bands cite Underoath as a massive influence. I never seen a metalcore band cite Jane Doe as their main influence, literally ever. Maybe just niche mathcore bands... That's about it.
