A little late to the conversation (got the Patreon recently) but Apple isn’t completely out of the LLM conversation Apple gives you the only (reasonable*) alternative to self hosting LLMs via exo labs 4 mac studios can run a 1T Param LLM via distributed inference with MLX (apples unified memory interface thing) Maybe it’s not top tier models, but self hosting local models has many benefits

I grew up playing hockey since I was in 4th grade (mind you I started late, most kids start at 4 yrs old I started at 10), and yeah costs for a season I think was like 1.5-2k a year and some other club teams in my area were like 3-3.5k. Equipment is also very expensive: - skates are $1k (throughout all my time I think I bought 4 pairs and 3 of them were the top tier $1k cost) - sticks (x2) $600 (too many broken sticks to count) - gloves $200 - shingaurds/elbows/chestpad ~$120 (I will say I used the same chestpad, elbows, and Shingaurds since I started playing. Little bit of superstition) Overall: the high use items like skates, gloves and sticks are dumb expensive
