I'm currently working on a new compilation (all 4 phases of Eye Light Resiliency) so I can give myself a mini-break for a couple of days. I've been noticing some of my mental health/burnout symptoms ramping up over the past couple of weeks and I'm trying to be smart about not pushing myself past a safe point.
I'm also constantly reminding myself that I'll have a lot more time to work and catch up on rest once all 3 of my kids are back in school! My youngest will be starting kindergarten, so this is going to be MY FIRST TIME being able to work something like "normal work hours" since I started this channel.
It's funny ... for much of my working life, all I wanted were jobs that allowed me to work flexible, unconventional hours; but now the idea of having 8am-2pm available for work every weekday makes me feel so excited I could cry.
Between the heat and the very limited child-free hours, summers are always so hard for content creation. I think I did pretty well this summer, but I'm REALLY looking forward to being able to live and work at a pace that feels a little less unpredictable and desperate. We're just a few weeks away from this channel's 9 year anniversary and I'm hopeful that I can make my imminent 10th year the best one yet.
Thank you all for your kindness, support, and patience! They say that YouTubers have to have a "thick skin" to survive, but I've somehow managed to make it this far as a pretty sensitive soul. I'll take some credit for all the work I've put into my own mental health (it's been a LOT of work) but mostly I think I've survived here this long because I have an unusually kind, compassionate, thoughtful community of viewers. (Many of you also regularly delight me with how funny you are.) Thank you for finding me here, thank you for all the ways you support and connect with me, and thank you for spending your precious TIME with me. It truly means so much to me that so many of you regularly carve out a little space in your life for my content. I do not take it for granted—it's an honor I will always strive to deserve.
