I practiced taekwondo as a kid in the mid 2000s and even though I now know a lot of it was bs, I still learned a lot of useful skills that translated to more practical fighting and martial arts. It's amazing to see just how full of esoteric woo everything was back than and how so many people believed in it. Great video as always, easily your best film yet. Can't wait to see what the next project will be, but I hope you take a long break first!

ok wait i just went back and watched your frank dux video and now im wondering if the idea of the kumite came from the death matches dante put on. we know dux was familiar with dante, he would have been 19 in 1975 when it happened which lines up with the date he gave about being recruited into the cia and i mean we know that it’s obviously exaggerated but if you took the death matches name literally combined with how violent they were and how underground this was i could see how you could get the kumite out of it.

This was so awesome. I had no idea about the Fall River stint. The part about the 10 year period from 1993-2003ish with BB magazine was on point. It was so interesting reading, along with experiencing that first hand. Being a part of a TMA school and watching it struggle with its identity and lose students bjj and mma clubs was a wild thing. Apparently the BDS fought in some the early mma bouts in New England during the 90’s as well!

Usually I can't get enough of all your quips and puns, which admittedly felt somewhat fewer than your usual artillery barrage, however... Firstly, in a way this was a video about a rather tragic figure, so it was only fitting that your lines where 5% more solemn than usual. But secondly, I might have just subjectively experienced it differently because of how spellbound I was by the story telling! I'm not complaining or asking for a change, I'm telling you that you got me hooked! (As per usual...) I can't imagine how much work and effort must have gone into this feature movie director's cut length piece! This seems so very polished!
