Am I the only one who sees the reality that the Enneagram diagram is a circle because whoever drew it was an idiot? There are 3 groups - head, gut, heart and they form sets of three. These actually fit neatly into a simple 3x3 matrix that creates a much EASIER to understand and use system for The Enneagram Pathologies (Credit to Lucas for being the inspiration to this insight). There are three EXPRESSION types that are true across all three types of internalization. These are Social, Action, and Avoidant. These people are expressing their pathologies in one of three general ways. Group these with the three ways they internalize and connect with the world and we have our 9 types. But it's not a circle. Feel free to reach out if you want the Matrix version of the Enneagram, but please keep in mind this is a WIP.

Hmm yeah that’s a good question. You don’t “learn” this stuff from a source in the way you would some academic knowledge, I think it comes down to building an intuition through trial and error, repetitive use, etc. Some of the better resources are the typology central pages for each type, Suzanne Stabile & Richard Rohr’s books (really all books though), but it’s better to consume every resource and cherry pick what works for you

Do you have any resources that helped you reach this idea? I’ve done my own digging on the enneagram and I feel like they only ever talk about the surface level stuff like you’ve mentioned.

Looking forward to this! Maybe they should call them Ennea'problems' to help clear up the confusion. Also, I'm unable to find the videos talking about 8 & 7.
