Now that the final video is live, I love that you added more depth on the "Ego" topic - that added a really valuable angle to it, I think. Really nicely done.

Johannes

If you need some more minutes, I'd say get deeper into how a backstories could cause the pathological Type adaption. I felt this was missing a bit from the Type 9 video. Also making clear the difference between the general tendency, and the maximally pathological extreme it can take could fill a few extra minutes.

Spenser Sakurai

okay, I get you now.

LocalScriptMan

I mean eights ARE tough and closed off. That’s not a lie they tell themselves, is moreso what I meant. They don’t need to create a story around themselves to achieve that

Spenser Sakurai

8s dont have an ego?? An external ego protects you from looking weak. I feel the biggest lie for an 8 is that they have no ego, when their ego is the clearly multiple layers of armor and weapons. Otherwise they could look/feel vulnerable more easily. Might be bias as I type myself as an 8.

Taylor Weston of the 41st

Wow. I think I've mistakenly viewed myself as having the tendencies of an 8. Seeing this video just reminded me of my brother rather than myself. Now I'm wondering if I actually might have tendencies of a 1. Dear God, when did I become my dad? Love seeing the deep dive on these! I'm very excited for the rest.

LocalScriptMan

Hmm thanks, yeah I really can’t say. The current narrative is that gut types fall more easily into physical addictions, being more ruled by the body. And I’ve seen a lot of that. But not enough to be conclusive

Bosse Koch

Really been enjoying this series so far! Have you considered making a video from a similar standpoint about writing/handling addiction? That could be really interesting in relation to the different Enneagram fixations/types and how they respond or might be susceptible to it...

LocalScriptMan

I don’t think a person can heal completely - the remnants of that toxic wound make up the basis for who you are, even if you heal. So it’s always a part of you. But in a narrative context, it can be “fixed” in the framing of the story

Eli Moran Odicio

Hey Lucas, is there a way for people/characters to 'fix' or 'overcome' the fatal flaw to the degree that they are no longer their original enneagram type?
