Revamping RPG battle system type 2
🕑 Added 2024-01-07 18:37:53 +0000 UTCThis weekend I've decided to revamp the old RPG battle system, it's been made to work on 0GUI long ago and desperately needed an update.
Before I get to the code, I had two challenges to overcome. Drawing characters from side view for the first time, and drawing at least one background that I knew I don't know how to.
The characters took most of the weekend, but they came out pretty good if I may say so myself. But the background was a challenge.
I couldn't draw anything that looks the way I want, but I've found this technique called index painting, it let's me use high res brushed for pixel art and allowed me scribbling my way to a decent. The result is sloppier that what I prefer, but it does the job for now.
I did start with the code, but it's not functional yet, and you'll have to wait till next weekend to play it. In the meanwhile, I've put together the images above to show you what's coming.

Of course, I always include some basic animation, even though I'm not good at drawing animated characters.

Really waiting for that one. Will you be adding some simple animations like sprites moving on attack? (Even just the current sprite moving on x axis towards the enemy sprite would be cool)
