Well, in the comic canon the pets and public models aren't really that common. They are mostly created also as a meaning of control.

Forget AI. Having a companion is so much more appealing than a servant. There's a difference between loyalty and obedience. I'm not sure how I'd feel about getting intimate the traditional way with something that small, but the emotional support alone would be worth it. I can see why the consortium sees big money in the prospect.
