I also hope it's possible to deduce Alpha's medication (seen in a previous episode) is what could contain this inhibitor/control factors.

That makes sense. I just musunderstood the scene where he has that mask on and they are doing scans and laser stuff talking about regeneration. I thought they were dealing with the issue then.

well, surgically would be more difficult, considering all of his cells regenerate at some degree

Interesting! I remember reading this train of thought in the original but I thought they lessened his regeneration surgically. If it's medication, it could possibly be reversed.
