Lost memories - "abscence pt1" blog
🕑 Added 2022-12-12 20:36:13 +0000 UTCHey, thought about talking a little about what I've been doing with this comic, to give a little more input, I hope I don't happen to spoil part of the story.
I thought about calling this comic "Derideal" lost memories... because I think it's a one-shot that pack enough story on it's own, and I imagine standing alone as it's own thing (it will also feature a slightly different tone as the story goes)
but
technically.... this is a project prime story, that should happen earlier before THE VOID comic series.
I made this comic to be something you can enjoy without caring much about Derideal and the other series (and done a little better than in XEN)
that's why before the actual start... there's a "XENO PRELUDE" which basically say what "xeno" are and gives enough information to realize about what type of characters this story will be.
This time I also expect the story to be a little more simple, it start with a mystery (which also makes me remember Derideal)
but I plan to be much more direct this time at how I'm delivering the information.
I enjoy a lot watching movies or reading things that made no sense until "the very end" and that's been translated into Derideal in a very strong way, with dreams and little details that probably makes sense to me, who's been writing the story.
But lost memories is basically what it says, Mix recovering her memories! and I'll plan to make it very clear since the start
all of the little things scattered near Mix in the panels I uploaded are sort of symbols, mementos that represent a certain thing... there are many scattered around, and despite I don't hope to use them "all"
they'll be a gateway to certain "key" memories.
reason for this:
it was the quickest way to tell a story that could get too long and skip to just the important bits... and also it gave a mystery feeling I liked.
I spent a lot of time thinking about how I wanted to tell "Mix" story, and I was lucky to listen to a song that talked about memories, and it was basically how I solved it and decided to give it a shot.
btw, the episode is called "absence" but it was originally named "a forgotten place", because she basically forgot why she was there.
why she's inside that room? how long it's been? everything must be discovered recovering the "lost memories"

I think people can feel "authentic" stories, sometimes a story can be a little messy, but you still feel it's heart and that makes it worth to watch/read, despite its mistakes (that what I felt watching Final space, for example)

I agree with that. I guess I mean that stories that are driven by passion not quotas are better for artists and fans. Those are the stories that go places and make people think and feel even if it has some rough edges with how it fits with the wider setting.

I don't think star wars problem is about "what it should be or not to be" it's a problem of terrible writing (or rushed writing). you can make many different star wars stories, but you need to try to make a good story instead of just a checklist of fanservice with no more depth

I'm glad you're telling a story you really want to. It reminds me of people arguing over what should or should not be Star Wars. It doesn't matter, it's a setting for all sorts of stories.
