Plans for the development of the second episode.

Code:
1) Implementation of the open world – currently in the works, partially finished.
2) Implementation of the improved battle system (it’s not a fact that it’s going to be really improved but we hope for the best… : ) – still in the works, ran into some troubles with the auto-fight system. The combat system’s gotten more complex, it’s not as easy to make an auto-fight system now. Currently looking for a solution to this problem.
3) New interface, range of supplies offered by merchants – everything’s ready but not yet added into the code.
The main problem will be the economic system. Gameplay’s getting more «compacted», i.e. 3+3+3 day system and we’re not sure how to make the economic system work in this particular context. We’re looking for a solution.
1) First three gameplay days (before ending up in the castle):
This is our classical approach to the game, which you’ve seen in the first episode. Navigational screen will most likely be unified. One big map split into different locations.
Main events:
a) The search of the kidnapped woman– in the works, close to being finished
b) Captivity - finished
Side quests:
a) Vampire story – in the works, close to being finished
b) The Cleansing (event with Elana and Reidrich) – haven’t started working on it yet (in the next update)
b) Ilga’s character development and quests in her house – in the works, half finished.
c) More addditional lore – script being written
d) More mc’s backstory – script being written
e) Small events – script being written
2) Three days at the castle:
The economics system won’t work there. There’ll be combat sequences but just a few of them.
Main events:
a) Introductory part - finished
b) The investigation on the first day – most of the content is finished
c) Side quests of the first day – the script’s ready
d) The investigation on the second day – the script’s ready
e) Side quests of the second day – the script’s ready, one major event also completed
f) The investigation on the third day – the script’s partially ready
3) Three days in the town:
This part of the update will focus on gameplay, i.e. fights, economics and so on.
Not finished yet.
All that I’ve just said is a rough plan. We’ve run into a few problems but I’m sure we can tackle them. The biggest issue so far is time, we’re short on it. The game’s gotten more complex compared to the first episode and we can’t revert back to how things were. There are things we could turn a blind eye to in the past, now we’re trying to give it our best. Still, it doesn’t mean we’re not going to make any mistakes.
This plan is published only for your general understanding of what’s going on. We’re constantly discussing everything, adjusting the process of development and trying to stay on schedule. However, so far, we’ve been behind it.

1) Внедрение открытого мира - сейчас в работе, частично готово.
2) Внедрение новой продвинутой боевой системы (не факт, что мы её сделаем продвинутой конечно, но надеемся…J) – в работе, есть некоторые проблемы с автобоем. Боевая система усложнилась, сделать автобой учитывающий новую механику оказалось не так просто. Ищем решение.
3) Новый интерфейс, ассортимент торговцев – сами элементы готовы, но еще не внедрены в код.
Проблемой будет экономика. Геймплей становится более «спрессованным» 3+3+3 дня, и пока не ясно как заставить работать экономическую модель. Обдумываем варианты.
1) Первые три дня игры (до попадания в замок):
Это более классическая модель, которую вы видели в первом эпизоде. Навигационный экран скорее всего сделаем единый. Большая карта, поделенная на локации.
Основные эвенты:
а) Поиски похищенной – в работе, близко к завершению
b) Плен – уже готов
Дополнительные эвенты:
a) История вампиров – уже в работе, близко к завершению
b) Очищение (эвент с Эланой и Рейдрихом) – не начинали (следующее обновление)
b) Раскрытие Ильги и эвенты в её доме – уже в работе, частично готово
c) Дополнительное раскрытие лора – на стадии сценария
d) Раскрытие предыстории героя – на стадии сценария
e) Мелкие эвенты – на стадии сценария

В первую очередь эта часть будет ориентирована на геймплей. Боевка, экономика И.т.д.
Пока не готово.
Это крайне приблизительные планы. Также же могу сказать, проблемы есть, но на текущий момент, это решаемые проблемы. Главная проблема — это время, которого не хватает. Проработка, по сравнению с первым эпизодом, сильно усложнилась и по-другому мы уже не можем. То, на что раньше закрыли бы глаза, сейчас стараемся делать нормально. Что не мешает делать ошибки.
Данный план публикуется лишь для понимания, мы все проговариваем, все контролируем и придерживаемся четких планов, от которых к сожалению, отстаем.

Because we are making a game, and games need gameplay. We're okay with visual novels, but we've outgrown them.

Unintelligent as I am, I (understandably) don't understand why you are aiming for a relatively complex economic system. From the first episode, I gained the comforting impression that VC would be an intense, story-rich, roleplaying-lite VN (incorporating lots of beautiful naked ladies, of course) and not the heavy, open world sandbox into which, these updates increasingly suggest, it is gradually to evolve.

Getting things right, IMO, is more important in the long run. It's great to get updates as scheduled but I would rather get them as close to the envisioned design as possible. If a little more time is needed to do that, then that is ok in my book.
