"The Quidditch final was a disaster, the Mudbloods and all the scum were supposed to flee when they saw us," Mulciber snapped, throwing the damn newspaper towards the table, looking at it with total contempt, the image of Potter and Malfoy fighting back-to-back with obvious magical prowess dominated the cover
Once again
Apparently, the Prophet would take advantage and exploit the situation as much as he could, although Thorfinn could understand it, Potter and Malfoy were the new generation of Lords, a demonstration of magical prowess as overwhelming as the one seen that night would be news for a long time
Of course, Thorfinn wasn't foolish enough to say anything to Mulciber
The imbecile was capable of doing something really stupid, since he lost the Changs, he had been losing gold in an alarming way, which did not help his terrible mood
He still remembered that night, they were drunk and had decided to wear their robes and have fun like in the old days, and for a while all was well, the sheep were a bunch of spineless fools and did not present any real problem
At least, until they reached the camping area assigned to the Stark coalition
That was the exact moment when everything went to shit
Flashback
“HAHAHA watch them run, you won't be able to escape disgusting mudbloods!!” Marius shouted, cursing and burning tents without any self-control
"We're getting too close to the ministry area, we must go," Thorfinn warned, casting his own curses on a group of filthy foreigners
Marius snorted, while the rest of the boys were still having fun, Nott, Goyle, Crabbe, Travers, the old gang was back like in the old days
Even after Lucius' betrayal, they were having fun with these filthy beasts
Oh how Thorfinn wished that his master's plan would be finished once and for all, he wanted to see the powerful and arrogant Lord Malfoy kneeling and humiliated
Maybe he could even ask the Dark Lord for the daughter of the imbecile Lucius to be given to him, you could tell she was a real whore in bed, he could use some pussy to be honest, even if she was already used by the Stark brat
So focused was he on his own fantasy, that he didn't notice the moment when the group arrived at a place they wanted to avoid

And right in the middle of that damn place...
"Isn't that Lucius's offspring? With Potter?” snapped Marius, his horrible face contorted into an even more horrible grimace
"They are indeed" said Thorfinn, watching with some wariness as the two young wizards fought in a coordinated manner against the rest of their comrades
"Apparently Draco has been practicing," said Marius, seeing how Lucius' son cast a chain of combat spells quite advanced for his age
Impressive, considering he was only 14 years old
And Potter was not far behind, Thorfinn thought, when he saw how the golden boy threw a diffindo, aiming at Travers' neck, who had to throw himself on the ground to avoid being slit like a pig
"Apparently the Potter boy has learned some tricks from Jon Stark" said Marius, however, Marius' mouth was completely silent as he saw how both wizards focused their serious gazes on them
And Thorfinn shuddered at what he saw, he saw no hatred or anything like that, just a terrifying calm
And icy eyes that promised only one thing

Thorfinn still trembled just remembering the young Lord Potter's icy gaze, the power in his spells, the fleeting decision to aim at Crabbe's knee, for the sole purpose of causing as much pain as possible
Both young Potter and young Malfoy were being trained, of that I had no doubt
“Do you have news?” asked Mulciber, bringing Thorfinn back to reality, focusing on the frankly hideous face of his "friend"
Thorfinn avoided snorting and nodded calmly
"Yes, Our Lord has plans for the tournament at Hogwarts this year, he refused to give details about the nature of the plan, but we should be ready, was the only thing he said," Thorfinn confessed, causing Mulciber to frown
"I understand, I can't wait for our lord to make his plan come to fruition, and…" yet Mulciber's words were utterly drowned in Thorfinn's ears, at the same time as he felt a sharp pang in his chest, so agonizing that it forced him to his knees completely
"AAAAAHHHHGGG," he screamed, his face contorted in agony and his hand holding her chest, which felt like his heart had been ripped out
"Rowle? What's wrong with you? What the hell is going on?” Mulciber asked, as he took his wand and stood up
However, Thorfinn could not answer, he was short of breath, he was totally stunned, and it was due to one thing in particular
The wards of his home had been destroyed
Which could only mean one thing
"We are under attack” he whispered, making a titanic effort to stand up
Mulciber looked at him in surprise, totally paralyzed
“What? An attack? But who would be so stupid?” asked the wizard in disbelief, making Thorfinn look at him as if he were the greatest of fools
Thorfinn knew perfectly well who was responsible for this, although Mulciber was too stupid to remember it himself
After all, only one person was close to both the young Potter and the young Malfoy who they had attacked a few days ago
And only one person had the balls to attack them in his own home
"Stand up, we have to..." Thorfinn's words were interrupted by a loud roar
BOOOOOOM
The entire house was completely shaken, some portraits fell to the ground, parts of the ceiling began to collapse, showing parts of the late summer starry night, the sky was beautiful, however, the night was tainted by something peculiar
Embers and smoke, a lot of it
"Damn," said Mulciber next to a destroyed window, looking towards the horizon, with a tone full of an emotion that was not common in the
Fear
Thorfinn walked over to the window where he was looking, completely paralyzed by what he saw
It was impossible, just impossible, they were extinct
A dragon, and not just any dragon, but a fucking Black Hebrid, the scariest and fiercest of the races, a huge and terrifying one, was bathing all the Rowle lands in dragon fire, entire acres of potions crops and magical cattle, all being consumed in seconds by the indomitable and terrifying white fire, years of work, his family's legacy
Consumed in a fucking instant by the terrifying beast
However, that was not the worst
"Shit," Mulciber whispered, as he began to back away and then run as fast as his atrophied body would allow, with Thorfinn Rowle running nearby, terrified to see how hooded figures in black robes with blood-red ornaments appeared around his mansion, wands ready and with more than clear intentions
Thorfinn tried to disappear, only to find out with realization that he couldn't
He was trapped like a fucking rat, like many of the victims he and his former companions had made in the first wizarding war
You didn't have to be a genius to know what this attack meant, nor who was responsible
“Marie!! Get out of the house, we have to leave now...” shouted the man to alert his wife, just at the moment that the hooded women and men began to besiege his house with a rain of explosive charms, and without the wards...
It was only a matter of time before his ancestral family's home became mere ruins, without him being able to really do anything about it
He found his wife quickly, wrapped in a simple dressing gown and nothing more, looking really scared of the all the shaking in this the manor
"Thorfinn, what's the matter?" said his terrified wife, only to let out a scream as she felt the house shake again, at the same time that parts of the roof continued to collapse
"We are under attack," Thorfinn said resignedly, while Mulciber used his wand and cast spells uncontrollably into the shadows of the night, each spell darker than the last
“DIE DAMN MUDBLOODS, DIE!!” screaming out of his mind, like the animal he was, even the unforgivable were being casted
Thorfinn rushed towards Mulciber, forcing him to lower his wand
"ARE YOU STUPID? THE UNFORGIVABLE LEAVE A TRACE, YOU FOOL" Thorfinn said like he was a fucking child
Mulciber just looked at him furiously and spoke
"Do you think I care? The disgusting rubble dares to attack us, their betters! We must teach them their place at our feet!” Mulciber snapped, and then, he peeked out again to continue casting curses
And that action would be the worst mistake of his life
As soon as Mulciber peeked out, a white glow hit him all over his face, throwing him to the ground, while Thorfinn watched as a dangerous cut pierced Marius' face
That would leave a huge scar, Thorfinn thought, if they made it out alive
Marie readied her wand, moving it deftly and moving the debris from the ceiling that blocked the exit
"Come on," said his wife, as she began to run out of the burning place, without looking at her husband or his guest
Thorfinn frowned at Marius, having an internal debate, until, with a snort, he picked Marius up and dragged him out of the mansion, which had begun to collapse, the beams began to fall, and the ancestral home of the noble Rowle family was burned to the ground
On his way out, Thorfinn watched as his wife watched their house being consumed by flames, her face reflecting not despair or agony, but fury
Which was directly focused on him
“What did you do? This is evidently a vendetta, what the hell did you do Thorfinn," shouted the hysterical woman, as she clenched her wand tightly, pointing it at her husband, her gaze totally unhinged
And before Thorfinn could answer, an icy male voice stepped forward
"Thorfinn and his friends thought they might meddle in my affairs, and in my brother's, which was not very clever of them," said a voice from the darkness of the night
Lord Rowle pointed his wand into the darkness, the smoke and ash of his house clouding his vision, and the terror of the moment made his hand tremble uncontrollably
And from the black night, Lord Stark himself appeared
He walked calmly, black tunic with a red cloak on his shoulders, taller than Thorfinn remembered at that gala where he saw him for the first time
And far more terrifying, thought the overwhelmed Lord
"Did you think you could attack my people, my brother in particular, and live to tell the tale?" said the Wolf Lord, walking calmly towards him
Both Thorfinn and his wife were totally paralyzed, recognizing an alpha predator when they saw it
Mulciber, on the other hand...
“AVADA KEDABRA!” He screamed, in his pathetic mind, he had a chance to end the damn fool who had been the downfall of his family in recent years
Thorfinn only shook his head at the stupid and desperate action
Jon Stark, without taking his gaze off Thorfinn, leaned to the side, causing the killing curse to fail completely, and without blinking, raised his hand to where a surprised Mulciber was
No wand, no spell, nothing at all to give away that he was doing magic
And yet
"GAAHHHGGG," Marius gasped, as huge roots emerged from the earth, some tying his legs, others his arms and one wrapping around his neck, Jon Stark closed his fist slowly, savoring the moment, making the roots squeeze Mulciber's body tightly, forcing him to kneel
Subdued and defeated
“What were we up to?” said the terrifying young man, at the same time that hooded figures began to emerge from the shadows
"The fire is contained, Arraxys was in charge of burning only the Rowle lands, the message was clear" said a female voice with a Russian accent
The Koslova clan, Thorfinn thought with realization
Jon Stark nodded in pleasure, and with a lazy gesture, the enchanted roots tore Mulciber's wand, breaking Marius's hand in the process
Thorfinn watched suspiciously as the roots returned to the earth, only to emerge to the side of his master, handing Marius' wand delicately, fully intact
And Thorfinn's bad feeling grew
Jon Stark took Marius' wand and raising it to heaven, intoned
“MOSMORDE!” and that one word, was enough to make Thorfinn and Marius tremble with terror
An instant later, the dark mark appeared in the sky of his mansion, and Thorfinn understood the young wolf's cunning, simple but brilliant plan
With Thorfinn dead, and with the dark mark in the sky... the rest of the Death Eaters were going to panic, the minister was going to think that it was a settling of scores, while the followers of his master were eliminated one by one
It was a purge, Lord Stark had struck the first blow, weakening his master's forces before the war started
A brilliant slytherin move
What it meant... End of the road
Nonchalantly, Lord Stark made a circular motion with his hand, as Thorfinn watched as the root in Marius' neck broke his neck with total indifference, ending his life in the blink of an eye
Like a simple dog
Like all the victims of the Death Eaters in the first war, a treacherous voice whispered in his mind, although his pride prevented him from seeing that what was happening were only the consequences of his actions
Then, Lord Stark levitated Marius' body and threw it without any qualms into the flames of his destroyed mansion, without any hint of mercy
And so he turned his gaze directly to Thorfinn, and the defeated Lord Rowle knew that his time had come
But... he never imagine it would be this way
"Torfinn Rowle, you made two mistakes, the first being to serve the loathsome being you call Voldemort, a cowardly name, for a cowardly being," said the young Lord
Torfinn contorted his face in fury and pointed his wand at Jon Stark, in a desperate attempt to die fighting
However, before he could even utter a word, a terrifying roar ran cold in his blood, paralyzing him completely
And then, the damned dragon that scorched his lands landed, right behind Lord Stark, while looking at Thorfinn with obvious murderous instinct
The beast was huge and there was intelligence in its serpentine eyes, its jaws were open and flames danced between its terrifying fangs, staring at Thorfinn maliciously, daring him to do something stupid
The young sorcerer looked at him indifferently, but then, something changed
Lord Stark turned his gaze away from him, and turned his gaze to his wife, Marie
"Excellent work," he said with approval in his voice, forgetting all about the now confused Thorfinn
Marie walked to Lord Stark, kneeling before him
"My Lord, House Rowle is yours," she said in total submission, filling Thorfinn with fury at the betrayal
“DAMN WHORE!! TRAITOROUS BITCH, I'LL KILL YOU!! I... AAAHHHGGH” the man's furious reaction was stopped by a powerful root, which coiled around his neck forcefully, slowly suffocating him
Lord Stark, who was still seeing Marie, said
"Inform Cyrus of the success of the operation, we will wait for the report of the other teams, it will be a busy night for Amelia and a hard awakening for Cornelius," said the young Lord, as he began to walk out of the property, apparently forgetting about Thorfinn
Although such hope died a second later, when Lord Stark, without deigning to turn to look at him, simply said

Thorfinn did not know the meaning of that word, but the beast did, the imposing black hebrid incorporated his enormous body, looking at Thorfinn like a succulent biscuit
The beast's jaws opened, its mouth lit up with flames, eager to emerge, filling him with terror
However, he refused to close his eyes, if this would be his fucking end, he wouldn't leave as a fucking coward
"I'M READY, DAMN BEAST!!” scream full of frustration and terror, and an instant later
The huge maw completely covered him, an agonizing bite later
And the Rowle house, old and proud, simply disappeared
However, the ruins of the manor and the remains of Marius and Thorfinn would be found by Aurors of the ministry, unleashing a sensation that the purist families of the island had not felt in all their lives
Absolute terror
The purge had begun
