Straven

Thank you for the chapter.

In regards to the update I get that you cant make everyone happy. People should understand that monster difficulty is based on much more than just level. This story may be based off game rules but 'IRL' skill is a much higher consideration, and also each type of fighter would have distinct strengths and weaknesses. The guards wearing armor that prevents mana intrusion would naturally be tough opponents for Ilea. People are really stressing about lack of level gain, but it should be obvious to them that level gain would slow at some point. I think you're doing a great job and shouldnt second guess yourself because a few people want to rush to the next big milestone.

Chopper

Wonderful. From the description of the smith I thought he might try eating her, apparently he has outstanding self control. Thanks for the chapter!

Morog T Tiny

I enjoyed this... wouldn't an area of high magic be more prone to faster leveling?

Atlas Dwarf

I have to agree that the level change seems a bit extreme. It seemed like the strength of the knights had more to do with their fighting style and their extremely good gear. So a 300 to 400 range seems much more reasonable. To me, a 400-500 level range makes it seem like gear could affect monster levels itself. Also I could understand the 400-500 level range if it had to deal with the 'undead' gaining levels based on the originals Class levels, but the leveling would seem off then even when she is fighting stuff with similar total levels.

Zachary Smith

Exploring the north is cool! I like the little tidbits of lore. The diversity of creatures and inhabitants found are really cool too! Thanks for the story!

Also I just realized. She will probably want to find an enchanter in the camp as well to further strengthen her armor.

j0ntsa

gotta slay the raid boss to get the water? maybe that.. :D

J H

Really cool chapter, this little town/camp full of different races is pretty neat. Glad Ilea is about to get not just one, but several better armor sets to make her more survivable. I guess we will get to see the results of her underwater fighting skill. It would definitely be a good idea if she can upgrade her blade and heavy gauntlets as well. At the least she should be able to get new blade ones with the new steel from the knights. I hope she gets some good leveling from the water monsters and this new dungeon. Her poison resistance will be getting a work out.

Thank you for the chapter. I Really enjoy the story!

Baba Vader

Thanks for the chapters!

I feel like she should be gaining a level for defeated enemies that are not only so much higher level than her but also challenge her quite a lot

Alan McBrayer

The first elf she killed was level 293. From the ??? wolf creature, the ???? bassilisk, the 300+ winter spirits, to pretty much all of the creatures in the north. We have seen plenty of monsters outside of dungeons which would give lots of levels.

Alan McBrayer

Most people can't solo monsters 60 levels higher, but we've met plenty who can do so and yet they aren't super high leveled. One of the guys in the Taleen dungeon group was able to solo the centurions yet he was around 230. I think the highest identified human level we've seen thus far is about 250. If you could level from each time you kill something 60 levels higher then we would be seeing people in the 300's.

Arkeus

If Centurion were already 300+ then yeah, those knights would need to be 400-500+ to be so dangerous. I also don't mind them giving little experience, as for once it makes a real example of "levelling up becomes hard". OTOH, this ALSO means it directly ties levelling to dungeons, as the only way to level would be to kill a ridiculous numbers of much higher levelled enemies. This also means that Elves are actually really low level, as they haven o way to get past 220 or so. It also makes 'boss fights' utterly useless, as it's much better to kill 300 level 300 than 1 level 500. And easier.

Corwin Amber

thanks for the chapter

Jonathan Walker

I agree with the others the level difference to level gain is wayyyyyy to out of proportion, also if you think about it most other people can't 1v1 a monster over 60 levels higher than them so it makes sense that she should be gaining levels like mad. Because she can take out a monster so much higher than her she deserves that good level boost

Jonathan

Actually the Centurions were level three hundred. The sword guardians were about two hundred, and I just chalked the fact that she had so much more trouble with these than centurions (outside of tanking the final explosion, which might in itself count for them being equivalent level even though the knights are a much harder technical fight) to match-up details. You've said before that certain builds and classes stack up for certain kinds of fights better than others, like Ilea and drakes or the way she beat the first mind-weaver when a more warrior-like demon would have shredded her. So Ilea has to work harder against monsters and other opponents who have the same kind of size, speed, and in-close fighting prowess she does like the knights, even though they may not outlevel other opponents she beats more easily. That makes more sense to me than getting so little experience from opponents that even now are double her level. Tldr: I think 400-500 is too high for the amount of reward she got.

Chymor

If you don’t already have it, then I suggest that you make a level plan and with some quick notes on where Ilea will earn her levels, against what, and with what support, and the level difference and other factors. That will make it easier to keep the challenge and rewards appropriate. It feels a bit haphazard right now from reader point of view.

Chymor

Great chapters, but I think you have a bit of a mess here with the levels versus the rewards... Here is how I see it: The earlier balance made them exceptionally hard per level, but made the rewards reasonable. This new level is in my opinion extreme in the other direction. Challenge level (per level) feels like on the same line as talen, but the level rewards becomes nearly nonexistent. If you plan to keep the rewards as is, maybe settle for them being ~150 levels higher than ilea. If even twice the level doesn’t get her a level per kill then it feels slower then the missions she did with the team

Benjamin

I was just thinking.. Have you already mapped out the level progression in skills and classes or just as U go along?

ChrisW

Best smith character ever. Those volcanodwarfgods dont hold a candle XD

Håvard

Next she knows the monsters live in the lake and the dunheon, so an smarter answer is 'sure I can get you the water, what dangers are there down there, I have not been to the lake yet'

Håvard

Ok some coments, she payed with half the metal, wht does she start talking abaout more payment, I 'know' you want to talk about that he don't want gold, but it just makes her an idiot first ahe pays a lot more that ahe have to 1/2 the metal it is an good chance he whod be happy with 1/3. And then afther they agree she wants to go back on the deal in order to pay more?

DominusIgnis

I agree with neko. Goliath is awsome. The world building So far has been tremendous. Not to say what came before was lacking, but this section of the story just has...spice?

ArturScott

F..k i need to wait one week at least and than read all 6 chapters for once it's to lilte for me, cos is so good. Thanks for the chapters, love it.

Call0013

Loveing the direction the story has been going since she decided to do north, I hope she finds out about 3rd Tier General skills soon, and I cant wait to see what Veteran does when she gets it to the 2nd(&3rd) tier). I hope that she spend her next Azarinth First Hunter 3rd tier skill point on Hunter Recovery.

G. Harthane

Thank you for the praise :). Really appreciate the feedback!

Tsaimath

Didn't the other dwarf say that the region's monsters were living in that lake? I sense a disturbance in the force, a forebonding feeling that violence will occur.

Wonderful worldbuilding bits! Sorely what I've been anticipating with Ilea coming to the North! Amongst the whole adventure, leveling (and the anticipation of how far she'll go and what'll get once she reached lvl 300) and enjoyable juicy battle scenes. This is a wonderful place, Hallowfort and quite in the more fantasy-side that any hospitable location, sans Haven. Goliath, I like him, her, it or probably just the floating Smithy! It's speech pattern and its quirks are cool. The whole conversation was enjoyable as Ilea talking with our first friendly elf historian. Overall, I enjoy this chapter and cannot wait for the next ones! Horray for new armor! Now, I wonder if Ilea will ask for new weapons also.

Joppest

Way to open up the next quest area, I like it! Tech will be a complete new branch of power as well.

Keifru

Spooky Smith is pretty neat. I wonder what characters or shennanigans are going to come up just from a simple fetch quest @_@

Thaabit Rivertree

I really like this floating Smith guy, he's unique and finally giving us some bits and pieces of info on the wider world

wow you're early today great job :)
