I thought that too for a moment, but it seems that it just wasn't added to the collection. If you scroll down the latest posts it is there between 283 and 285

Greg Beeblebrox

chapter 284 missing.

@Ryn It seems there is a mistake

What happened to Chapter 284???

Thomas Grimshaw

it's also a magical world. plus is a VERY accurate way of getting memories out of someone willing (or not if interrogating), can't lie etc. I don't think anyone can say if there was the possibility to do it that the gov wouldn't sanction it on this world too! Especially with regards to military type missions. Plus we have to remember that this incident involved royalty which, enables more buttons to be pressed. sorry for the ramble..

I actually disagree. It's his crass and blase attitude that makes people assume he's a commoner. This can be shown when we get House Eastern Patrarich POV. He literally notes that Juluis is a commoner and Grace is a noble that perhaps hired Julius as a guard, because he doesn't have any manners or adhere to noble etiquette(whatever that is). Julius is allowed to be flippant because regardless of how rude or arrogant he comes off and to whom, he's never punished for his behavior.

Kyfe

That's all true, and it can be expanded upon, but there's also the fact that Julius doesn't interact with anyone other than his current friends. In fact, he almost ignored them, but Liily forced the issue when they first met. Also, as to his connections and speaking to nobles, it's been noted that people assume he's a noble BECAUSE he's so flippant toward other nobles. His attitude makes people think he couldn't possibly be a commoner. This has been explicitly stated in the text before (not sure exactly where, but probably over 100 chapters ago, now, lol). I agree with you that there could be some more tension with other characters and such, but it's also not entirely unbelievable based on how Julius acts towards his peers (as in, he doesn't, lol).

I'm pretty sure it's auto-generated by Patreon. Authors have nothing to do with the content of the notification. At least, that's how it works for me, lol.

COCOMOJOE

Good chapter but it need some heavy edits. grammar was a little rough. also that reminds me. you need to stop have every character use the turm "you guy" or something like that.

Let me clarify. I do not have an issue with Julius relationship with his friends. What i meant when I criticized their relationship is on a more story element side, when it comes to conflict. The story suffers largely due to lack of interpersonal conflict. Most of the people Julius meets are friendly, regardless of background, alignment and circumstances to that led to the meeting. Rather than having Julius befriend some of most influence families in the kingdom, if instead some were enemies, that would've provided alot more tension to the story. I think there's a need for conflict for Julius to resolve without relying on punching people. There is no nuance. Most characters are allies or go out of their way to assist Julius regardless of affiliation. That's what I meant by unrealistic.

Kanyau

To be fair, Julius IS a noble. Just an orphan one. His friends know this and like him anyways, partially because of his flipancy. They'd rather protect him as he is than ask him to change into the kind of obsequious person they never would've befriended in the first place.

Hamfist

The brain scan shouldn't be a surprise to any of us readers. Julius's team mates were brain scanned immediately after the event so the school clearly doesn't hesitate to go there.

Everyone brought up some good points. I have this to say: In a class system, power is centralized from the top down. It is in the nobles best interest that they receive as much advantage as possible, and/or suppressing the accumulation of power among Commoners. While orphan Commoner, that Julius is pretending to be, will typically be gang pressed into joining a noble family as a retainer, thereby elevating that noble house and keeping the commoner under the nobles thumb. You can say that Julius is a special case, since he is friends with some of the most influential and powerful nobles in the kingdom(which in it, of it self, kinda unrealistic). We actually don't see any Commoners or hear stories of Commoners suffering the consequences of talking back or offending nobles. In fact, outside of this noble lady & that bully who has a crush on Audrey. We really don't see any negative interactions with nobles period. No matter how pithy, arrogant or annoying Julius is to nobles or higher tiers; no one punishes or even considers to check Julius for his behavior(during which they know nothing about him & thereby, he isn't shielded by his connections.) As it stands the class systems is kinda a backdrop of the world but doesn't really have any substance as an element. You might say that politics doesn't matter, but I would disagree, that politics and nobility matter a great deal in his story, as Julius is from a noble house and his main enemy is also a noble and his love interest is a princess embroiled in political Intrigue.

Vice principle, i was wrong sadge

Yeah didn’t like that line but agree that if he walked into the meeting solo they would have tried to take his memories but walking in with two of the most influential families he could probably give a few yes or no answers and they’d have to deal with it. That being said not sure if I like him being just a brute that doesn’t know when to play the game

Thank you Thomas de Mahy, Marquis de Favras

William Johnson

Well, if I wasn't 100% on the Julius needs to leave school ship before I certainly am now. If the faculty is willing to go straight to brain drain within hours at most of him returning to school the juice is clearly not worth the squeeze, and if he told Derek and Lilly he was looking to hook up with a noble family for training and protection it would probably spark a bidding war. Maybe if we'd seen him get any really good support from the school previously it'd be one thing, but so far they've been giving him lessons way bellow his level with the exception of Gabriel who's just a big muscle head who likes a fight. Thanks for the chapter!

DeathOfOld

Any chance you can start sending the whole chapter in the email notification? Would really appreciate that

William Johnson

I would say that the thing getting Julius leeway is, as Adoltin pointed out, his connections. He's got the heirs to two major houses and two of the more powerful retainers of those houses on his side. If it was just the heirs the adults in the room could maybe justify going over the kid's heads but the presence of Marcus and Stella is a pretty clear indication that the houses have an interest in this.

Finn

I wouldn't say they are all quite as accepting but having the backing of one of the Ducal Houses and the Violet Family seems to be quite effective in rebuffing critics. MC also was never one for etiquette and had luck early one which saves him in situations like this.

Adoltin

I feel like that's because ultimately strength triumphs over all and Julius is stupidly strong for his tier. Also Julius has well connected friends. Honestly most people who know him probably assume he's even more well connected than he appears, because how else would he be at the level he is at?

Thaabit Rivertree

Lots of grammar errors. I think it would help if you got a proofreader

Thank you for the chapter

“Well, I see you are just as rude as my interview,” -> “Well, I see you are just as rude as during my interview,”

Yeah I’m not sure if it’s intended but their request for memories is much more insidious than it seems (and it already seems to be very insidious). He was whisked away with a princess and as of now most people would assume that what saved them are the royal security measures - which he would give up to every one in that room together with his memories. Pretty sure the royal family would take a dim view of that.

Blackjack

I would remiss not to point out but as a worldbuilding element, a Commoner would normally never be able to speak to nobles in this manner. However, social etiquette has been all over the place in this novel so 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

Thanks for the chapter!

Thanks for the chapter. Got to keep the b*stards honest…

There was no way that was going to be a simple set of questions …

Well … interesting

Tyftc. Even if they tried seams it would make the memory examiner kinda vulnerable and julius aura would probably shred them.

Edit suggestion: When someone goes -> When someone who goes take upon that role -> take up that role by their appearance -> with their appearance as my interview -> as you were during my interview
