MNL Progress Report #66
🕑 Added 2024-01-22 03:24:33 +0000 UTCHey there, nudies! Sorry for the delayed update! It has unfortunately been a really rough week for yours truly. Our 2 year old kitten Pickle passed due to some really horrible and sudden health complications, and it really took a toll on me and Leslie. I let the team know and took a break for most of the week.
And let me tell you, I nearly cried my damn eyes out when I came back and saw that our artist Sweez immortalized Pickle in one of our shop interiors.
You absolute bastard, Sweez. I'm gonna hug the shit out of you.
So yeah! This is the shop interior to Culo Culo Town's clothing shop! We decided to go with 2D illustrations for interiors where there's not really much else to do beyond shop and talk, since many of these shops would be too small to walk around in without it feeling cumbersome. Not all of them will be 2D interiors, but many in the mall will. We're still doing some experiments overlaying our 3D models onto this 2D image to make it look perfect, including things like having a character behind the 2D shop counter, or replacing the 2D counter with a 3D version.
We also began work on the sex shop interior, too!
Some of you may recognize a couple cameos in this! We had already decided before to name the sex shop after Erotech, an adult comic Sweez and I do together over on Slipshine.net. But then we realized that it would be more interesting and give us more narrative opportunities if we pulled a bit more from that particular universe and incorporated that into the shop. The Erotech comics follow a ragtag group of scientists, their horny robot, and a guy they found on the street as they build a business together making adult toys and videos. No worries of course if you aren't familiar with the comic! It won't be required reading at all, I promise. In MNL, the owner of this particular sex shop isn't in the comics at all, but is a franchisee who really believes in the message of Erotech and wants to impress her higher-ups with her own inventions and content. Something which Amber just might be interested in helping out with!
Other than that though, kind of a slow week. AT's working on those animations. Invertex has been working on getting assembling all these new animation, rig, and environment changes we've had to make, which should be wrapping up soon. Bear has been doing a lot of little texture work, prettying up our outdoor areas.
