I think this episode is a Fan favorite of Superman fans, because the character of Perry is very iconic in the comics, movies, and other media. It really does a good interpretation of his character. However as a non superman fan I can see people finding the character annoying and the episode pointless.

Another skippable episode

When Perry tries to jump off to get Clark to reveal his powers, it's a tribute to when Lois Lane pulls the same stunt in Superman 2. She jumps into a river at Niagara Falls so that Clark would turn into Superman.

Great reaction. Yes Clark’s use of his powers is so unbelievably casual that it was a long running joke at this point and in later seasons of the show. This episode had some little nods to past incarnations of Perry White. Two right off hand is the whole chief bit with the sheriff is a nod to him being called Chief by Jimmy Olsen. Also the song ‘Walking in Memphis’ was a nod to the last TV version of Perry White before this which was on Lois and Clark that Perry White was a southern Elvis loving version and the song was a nod to his version.

This episode is incredible. The actor for Perry White does such an amazing job on Better Call Saul as Chuck also. Plus, it's nice to see the beginnings of Clark and Perry's professional relationship :)
